Engineering Product Manager, Data Platform

Role Summary

In this role, as a Product Manager, Data Platform you will be responsible for building the strategy and roadmap for scaling the core components of Splunk’s search platform. You will accomplish this with your technical understanding of distributed systems, ability to ruthlessly prioritize work items, and ability to communicate effectively with external and internal customers. You will merge attention to technical detail with the ability to understand and align to business imperatives while working hand-in-glove with cross-functional execution teams to drive customer insights and inputs directly into the development process.

What you’ll get to do

  • Own the entire search platform that powers analytics for mission critical applications and customers
  • Engage with customers (internal and external) and field teams to understand product gaps and translate them into clear priorities and roadmap
  • Develop product requirements, user stories, wireframes, and acceptance criteria for proposed enhancements
  • Work with developers and architects to brainstorm solutions and define clear success criterion
  • Establish relationships with customers and internal and external collaborators to collect key user and customer needs and validate potential solutions
  • Collaborate with customers, engineering, UX, PMs, operations, marketing, and field on a regular cadence

Must-have Qualifications

  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a minimum of 2 years of product management experience and a Bachelor's degree
  • Proven ability to lead a platform product area and deliver a meaningful outcome for customers
  • Experience interacting with software administrators, cloud operations teams, and technical architects and ability to synthesize clear requirements
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience driving alignment across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A data-driven approach to prioritization and the ability to own a product area

Nice-to-have Qualifications

  • Familiarity with large-scale distributed systems or databases
  • Experience with software development lifecycles, release automation, and certification processes.
  • Passion for solving challenging technical problems and building enterprise products with intuitive user experience
     
     
Base Salary Range for United States Remote $110,800.00 to $155,100.00
 
When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location.

Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period.
 
Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter. Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community.
