Doug Merritt
President and Chief Executive Officer

Doug Merritt has been Splunk’s President, CEO and a board member since 2015. He believes that data has the power to address many of the world’s most pressing problems, and that technology has the potential to enable anyone in any organization to become a data practitioner. Doug’s leadership focus is around driving large-scale, simultaneous transformations in high-growth environments. While at Splunk, he has led major shifts in the technology roadmap, financial model and go-to-market approach — dramatically increasing Splunk’s market capitalization. Splunk is one of the only B2B software companies to accomplish a transformation of this size and scope. Over his 30+ years in the tech industry, Doug has held senior leadership roles in organizations across a wide range of disciplines, including Product, Sales, Marketing and HR, for companies like Cisco, SAP and PeopleSoft. Doug holds a B.S. in business from The University of the Pacific and is an avid athlete.

Teresa Carlson
Teresa Carlson
President and Chief Growth Officer

As President and Chief Growth Officer at Splunk, Teresa Carlson leads our efforts to align and drive our ongoing business transformations across Splunk’s go-to-market segments. Most recently, Carlson served as Vice President, Worldwide Public Sector and Industries, for Amazon Web Services (AWS). After she founded AWS’s Worldwide Public Sector in 2010, Carlson’s role eventually expanded to include financial services, energy services, telecommunications, and aerospace and services industry business units.

Carlson has also been a strong advocate for empowering women in the technology field. That passion led to the creation of “We Power Tech,” AWS’s diversity and inclusion initiative, which aims to ensure underrepresented groups – including women – are reflected throughout all AWS outreach efforts. Carlson dedicates time to philanthropic and leadership roles in support of the global community. Prior to joining AWS in 2010, Carlson led sales, marketing and business development organizations at Microsoft, Keyfile/Lexign and NovaCare. Carlson holds a B.A. and M.S. from Western Kentucky University.

Jason Child
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Jason Child brought his expertise in scaling high-growth organizations to Splunk as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 2019 following ten years of CFO experience at Opendoor, Jawbone and Groupon, Inc. Before his executive leadership roles, Jason spent more than 11 years leading various global finance teams at Amazon and learning the growth opportunity of cloud technology-centric organizations. Considering cloud-first a top priority for Splunk, its customers and the technology industry, Jason uses his CFO lens to drive financial strategies that deliver a return in business transformation through the adoption of cloud-first strategies. He is an avid bicyclist, reader and podcast fan, and he holds a B.A. from the University of Washington. Jason’s favorite career advice is that, “no one will care about your career as much as you do. If there is an opportunity you want, don’t wait for someone to tap you on the shoulder; go pursue it on your own.”

Tim Tully
Senior Vice President, Chief Technology Officer

Tim Tully has served as Splunk’s Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer since 2018, and previously joined Splunk as Chief Technology Officer in 2017. Responsible for Splunk’s Product and Technology organization, Tim brings his passion for real-time data analytics, stream processing and consumerized product design to Splunk’s product innovation and long-term roadmap. Before Splunk, Tim spent 14 years in various roles at Yahoo! Inc., including Vice President, Engineering; Distinguished Engineer and Chief Data Architect. He began his career as a Member of Technical Staff at Sun Microsystems on the JavaSoft team and also spent time at several startup companies. As a technologist, Tim is passionate about the intersection of data, design and mobile. As a leader, he believes in organizational transparency and strives to hire “talent magnets,” valuing emotional intelligence as well as traditional intelligence. As a proud nerd, he enjoys coding, building computers and gaming with his kids. Tim frequently advises entrepreneurs, startups and universities, and serves as Vice President of the advisory board for the M.S. in Business Analytics program at Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University. Tim holds an M.S. from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.S. from the University of California, Davis.

Scott Morgan
Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, Global Affairs and Secretary

Scott Morgan is Splunk’s Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, Global Affairs & Secretary, and has responsibility for Splunk’s legal, government affairs and Splunk for Good functions. Scott has more than 20 years of experience practicing at the intersection of law, technology and leadership. Scott believes that transparency, informed debate and acting with the highest ethics are particularly relevant to his work at Splunk, the Data-to-Everything company. He believes that establishing and maintaining trust is paramount, and promotes this within Splunk and the industry. Scott joined Splunk as Associate General Counsel and Assistant Secretary in 2012 before working up to his current role. Prior to Splunk he was legal counsel at Autodesk, Inc. and Tellabs, Inc. Before transitioning to in-house legal counsel, Scott worked at Morrison and Foerster LLP and Thoits, Love, Hershberger & McClean LLP, where he specialized in corporate finance, acquisitions, intellectual property and technology licensing. Scott earned a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a member of the occasionally competitive Cal Ski Team. He earned his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of Law. Outside of work, Scott is passionate about his family, friends, community and the health of our planet.

Ammar Maraqa
Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer

Ammar Maraqa is the Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer at Splunk. It’s a role that taps his passion for technology and innovation and his deep experience helping companies grow and transform. Ammar came to Splunk in 2015 as Vice President of Business Operations and currently leads Corporate Strategy, Corporate Development, and Pricing and Monetization. For a time, he also led Global Strategic Alliances, and served as General Manager for IoT Markets. Before coming to Splunk, Ammar served as Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy at Cisco Systems, Inc., and held various Product roles at Dell, Inc prior to that. He started his career in consulting at Bain & Company working with companies to solve critical growth and scaling challenges. Ammar holds a dual bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Computer Engineering and Finance, and an M.B.A from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar.

Sendur Sellakumar
Senior Vice President, Cloud and Chief Product Officer

Sendur Sellakumar is the Senior Vice President, Cloud and Chief Product Officer of Splunk. Sendur is passionate about delivering a multi-product portfolio — helping customers wherever they are on their business journey to help them bridge data into action. Prior to assuming the Chief Product Officer role in June of 2019, Sendur held various key leadership positions at Splunk, including Senior Vice President and Vice President of Cloud from 2017 to 2019 and Vice President, Corporate Development from 2013 to 2017.

Sendur has a rich background in the financial services industry, as well as engineering. Before joining Splunk, he worked in investment banking at Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse. Earlier in his career, Sendur held several engineering roles at enterprise technology companies, including Qualcomm and Autodesk. Sendur holds a B.S. from the University of California, San Diego, an M.B.A. from Cornell University and is based in the Bay Area.

Kristen Robinson
Senior Vice President, Chief People Officer

Kristen Robinson is Chief People Officer at Splunk, bringing her passion for leading growing companies to a strong future with people as the foundation. Kristen comes to Splunk from previous roles in disruptive, growing companies including Pandora Media, Inc., where she was Chief Human Resource Officer from 2014 until it was acquired by Sirius XM Holdings Inc. She was also SVP, Human Resources at Yahoo! Inc., and VP, Human Resources at Verigy Ltd., as it spun off from Agilent Technologies. Her unique experience with dynamic high-growth companies led to her philosophy that culture and talent are critical for any company to achieve success. Kristen has a B.S. in accounting from Boston College and earned her M.B.A. from Northwestern University.

Christian Smith
Senior Vice President, Chief Revenue Officer

Christian Smith is Senior Vice President, Chief Revenue Officer and has been with Splunk since 2017. He is responsible for all commercial business worldwide and brings more than 25 years of experience in cloud and hybrid go-to-market strategy, SaaS sales and marketing, scaling sales organizations and acquisition integration. Christian possesses a deep knowledge of the technology and software industry, having previously served as Chief Revenue Officer at Nintex and held a number of leadership roles at Oracle, ATG and Daptiv. Christian holds a B.A. from the University of Washington and is an avid athlete who spends non-work time running, hiking, snow skiing, cross training, and then recovering with yoga.

Jeremy Rishel
Senior Vice President, Engineering

Jeremy is Splunk’s Senior Vice President of Engineering, responsible for all software development, testing, operations, infrastructure, and program management functions. Jeremy joined Splunk in 2018, after roles as Vice President, Engineering at DoorDash and Twitter. At Twitter he led a variety of product and engineering groups, including video products and engineering, machine learning and product data science, and engineering for all advertising products, data products, and developer tools. Prior to joining Twitter, he served in various engineering or product leadership roles for i2 Technologies, aPriori, and Bluefin Labs. Jeremy started his career as a Marine artillery officer, serving in the 2nd Marine Division, with assignments taking him to Europe, Japan, and Korea, as well as a number of duty stations within the U.S. Jeremy holds B.S. degrees in Computer Science and Philosophy from MIT, as well as an M.B.A from MIT’s Sloan School of Management.

John Sabino
Senior Vice President, Chief Customer Officer

John Sabino is Splunk’s Chief Customer Officer overseeing the Professional Services, Education Services, Support, Best Practices, CSM, and Renewals teams. John joined Splunk in 2017 with over 20 years of experience spanning strategic operations, commercial operations and sales. Most recently, John was the Chief Operating Officer for GE Digital where he was responsible for all commercial strategy, processes, technology and analytics. Prior to his role at GE Digital, John held similar senior executive roles at GE Capital and NBC Universal driving their digital transformation journey. John also served as a captain in the United States Army where he led military operations at the platoon, company, and battalion levels. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a B.S. degree and has an M.B.A from the University of Southern California – Marshall School of Business. John and his family enjoy spending their time outdoors: skiing, hiking, playing lacrosse and horseback riding.

Graham V. Smith
Independent Chairman of Splunk Inc.

Graham V. Smith has served as a member of our board of directors since 2011 and Chairman since 2019. Mr. Smith served in various executive leadership positions at salesforce.com, inc., a provider of enterprise cloud computing software, from 2007 to 2015, including as Chief Financial Officer and most recently as Executive Vice President. Prior to joining Salesforce, Mr. Smith served as Chief Financial Officer at Advent Software Inc., a portfolio accounting software company, from 2003 to 2007. Mr. Smith has served as a member of the boards of directors of BlackLine, Inc., a provider of cloud-based solutions for finance and accounting, since 2015, and Slack Technologies, Inc., a provider of cloud-based professional collaboration tools, since 2018. Mr. Smith previously served on the board of directors of Citrix Systems, Inc., an enterprise software company, from 2015 to 2018, MINDBODY, Inc., a cloud-based wellness services marketplace from 2015 to 2019, and Xero Limited, an online accounting software company, from 2015 to 2020. Mr. Smith holds a B.Sc. from Bristol University in England and qualified as a chartered accountant in England and Wales.

Doug Merritt
President and Chief Executive Officer

Doug Merritt has served as our President, Chief Executive Officer and a member of our Board since 2015. Mr. Merritt served as our Senior Vice President of Field Operations from 2014 to 2015. Prior to joining Splunk, Mr. Merritt served as Senior Vice President of Products and Solutions Marketing at Cisco Systems, Inc., a networking company, from 2012 to 2014. From 2011 to 2012, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Baynote, Inc., a behavioral personalization and marketing technology company. Previously, Mr. Merritt served in a number of executive roles and as a member of the extended Executive Board at SAP A.G., an enterprise software company, from 2005 to 2011. From 2001 to 2004, Mr. Merritt served as Group Vice President and General Manager of the Human Capital Management Product Division at PeopleSoft Inc., a software company (acquired by Oracle Corporation). He also co-founded and served as Chief Executive Officer of Icarian, Inc., a cloud-based company (since acquired by Workstream Corp.), from 1996 to 2001. Mr. Merritt has served as a member of the board of directors of Dragoneer Growth Opportunities Corp., a special purchase acquisition company, since 2020. Mr. Merritt holds a B.S. from The University of the Pacific in Stockton, California.

Elisa Steele
Independent Board Member

Elisa Steele has served as a member of our board of directors since 2017. Ms. Steele previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Namely, Inc., a financial and human capital management software company, from 2018 to 2019. Ms. Steele previously served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Jive Software, Inc., a collaboration software company, which was acquired in June 2017. Ms. Steele was a member of the Jive Software executive leadership team since 2014. Prior to joining Jive Software, Ms. Steele served as Chief Marketing Officer and Corporate Vice President, Consumer Apps & Services at Microsoft Corporation, a worldwide provider of software, services and solutions, and Chief Marketing Officer of Skype, an Internet communications company, from 2012-2014. Ms. Steele also has held executive leadership positions Yahoo! Inc. and NetApp, Inc. Ms. Steele has served as a member of the board of directors of Cornerstone OnDemand, Inc., a learning and human capital management software company, since 2018, JFrog Ltd., an enterprise software company, since 2020, and Bumble Inc., an online dating and social networking platform, since 2020. Ms. Steele holds a B.S. from the University of New Hampshire and an M.B.A. from San Francisco State University.

John G. Connors
Managing Partner, Ignition Partners

John G. Connors has served as a member of our board of directors since 2007. Since 2005, Mr. Connors has been a managing partner at Ignition Partners, LLC, a venture capital firm. Prior to joining Ignition Partners, Mr. Connors served in various management positions at Microsoft Corporation from 1989 to 2005, including most recently as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from 1999 to 2005. Mr. Connors has served as a member of the board of directors of NIKE, Inc. since 2005. Mr. Connors holds a B.A. from the University of Montana.

Mark Carges
Independent Board Member and Former CTO of eBay Inc.

Mark Carges has served as a member of our board of directors since 2014. He previously served as Chief Technology Officer of eBay Inc., an e-commerce company, from September 2009 to September 2014. Mr. Carges was a member of the eBay Inc. leadership team since September 2008, overseeing eBay Inc.’s platform strategy, as well as having overall responsibility for technology, software development and site operations for eBay.com. Prior to joining eBay Inc., Mr. Carges was Executive Vice President, Products and General Manager, for the Business Interaction Division at BEA Systems, a provider of enterprise application infrastructure software which was acquired by Oracle in April 2008. During more than a decade at BEA, Mr. Carges held a variety of senior technology leadership roles, including Chief Technology Officer. Mr. Carges began his career at Bell Labs as one of the original architects of Tuxedo, software for constructing highly scalable transaction processing applications. Mr. Carges has served as a member of the board of directors of Veeva Systems Inc., a provider of industry cloud solutions for the global life sciences industry, since 2017. Mr. Carges holds a BA from the University of California at Berkeley and an MS from New York University.

Patricia B. Morrison
Independent Board Member and Former Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Cardinal Health

Patricia B. Morrison has served as a member of our board of directors since 2013. Ms. Morrison was Executive Vice President, Customer Support Services and Chief Information Officer at Cardinal Health, Inc., a provider of healthcare services, from 2009 to 2018. Prior to joining Cardinal Health, Ms. Morrison was Chief Executive Officer of Mainstay Partners, a technology advisory firm, from 2008 to 2009, and Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Motorola, Inc., a designer, manufacturer, marketer and seller of mobility products, from 2005 to 2008. Her previous experience also includes Chief Information Officer of Office Depot, Inc. and senior-level information technology positions at PepsiCo, Inc., The Quaker Oats Company, General Electric Company, and The Procter & Gamble Company. Ms. Morrison has served as a member of the board of directors of Baxter International Inc., a global medical products company, since 2019. Ms. Morrison previously served on the board of directors of Aramark, a global provider of food, facilities and uniform services, from 2017 to 2019, and Virtusa Corporation, a global provider of digital strategy, digital engineering, and IT services and solutions, from 2020 to 2021. Ms. Morrison holds a B.A. and B.S. from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Sara Baack
Chief Product Officer, Equinix, Inc.

Sara Baack has served as a member of our board of directors since 2017. Since April 2019, Ms. Baack has served as Chief Product Officer of Equinix, Inc., a global interconnection and data center company. Previously, she was Equinix’s Chief Marketing Officer from 2012 to April 2019. Prior to joining Equinix, she served in various executive positions at Level 3 Communications Inc., a provider of integrated communications services, most recently as Senior Vice President, Voice Services from 2007 to 2012 and in other leadership positions in the company from 2000 to 2007. Prior to Level 3, she worked in financial services investing private equity for PaineWebber Capital (since acquired by UBS Group AG). Ms. Baack has served as a member of the board of directors of Crucible Acquisition Corporation, a special purchase acquisition company, since 2021. Ms. Baack holds a B.A. from Rice University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Sri Viswanath
Chief Technology Officer, Atlassian

Sri Viswanath has served as a member of our board of directors since 2019. Since 2016, Mr. Viswanath has served as Chief Technology Officer at Atlassian Corporation Plc, a provider of team collaboration and productivity software. Prior to joining Atlassian, Mr. Viswanath served as Senior Vice President of Engineering and Operations from April 2013 to October 2014 and Chief Technology Officer from October 2014 to January 2016 at Groupon, Inc., an e-commerce company. From 2012 to 2013, he served as Vice President of Research and Development for mobile computing at VMware, Inc., a provider of cloud and virtualization software and services. His previous experience also includes senior-level product positions at Glam Media, Inc. and Ning Inc. (acquired by Glam Media). He began his career in engineering roles at Sun Microsystems, Inc.. Mr. Viswanath previously served on the board of directors of SendGrid, Inc., a provider of a cloud-based customer communication platform (acquired by Twilio Inc.), from 2017 to 2019. Mr. Viswanath holds a B.E. from Bangalore University, and a M.S. from each of Clemson University and Stanford University.

Stephen G. Newberry
Independent Board Member and Former Chairman, Lam Research Corporation

Stephen G. Newberry has served as a member of our board of directors since 2013. Mr. Newberry served as a director of Lam Research Corporation, a supplier of wafer fabrication equipment and services, from 2005 to 2019, and served as the Chairman of the board of Lam Research from 2012 to 2019. He served as Lam Research's Chief Executive Officer from 2005 to 2011, President from 1998 to 2010, and Chief Operating Officer from 1997 to 2005. Prior to joining Lam Research, Mr. Newberry held various executive positions at Applied Materials, Inc., a provider of manufacturing solutions for the semiconductor, flat panel display and solar industries. Mr. Newberry previously served on the board of Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI), the semiconductor industry's trade organization and on the board of directors of Nanometrics Incorporated, a provider of process control metrology and inspection systems. Mr. Newberry holds a B.S. from the United States Naval Academy and completed an executive education program at Harvard Business School.

Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, Wildlife Studios Limited

Sean Boyle has served as a member of our board of directors since 2020. He brings more than two decades of finance and capital markets experience, financial planning and operations, as well as management and strategy. Since December 2020, Mr. Boyle has served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Wildlife Studios Limited, a mobile gaming company. Previously, he served in various roles at Amazon Web Services, Inc., a cloud computing and infrastructure company, between 2006 and 2020, including as Vice President of Investor Relations, Chief Financial Officer, and most recently as Vice President. Mr. Boyle holds a B.Com. (Hons) and an M.B.A. from the University of Windsor.

Sean Boyle
General Dennis L. Via
Executive Vice President, Booz Allen Hamilton & Former Four-Star U.S. Army General.

General Dennis L. Via, US Army, Retired, has served on our Board since 2020. General Via has served as an Executive Vice President in the Global Defense Group’s Joint Combatant Command since 2018 and a fellow for Defense Futures since 2017 at Booz Allen Hamilton Inc., a management and information technology consulting firm, and prior to this role, he served as  Senior Executive Advisor from 2017 to 2018. Prior to joining Booz Allen, he served in the United States Army from 1980-2016, holding multiple command and senior leadership positions, including as the Commander of the U.S. Army Materiel Command from 2012-2016 and retiring as a 4-star General. General Via has served as a member of the board of directors for Milliken & Company, a diversified industrial manufacturer, since 2019. He holds a B.S. from Virginia State University and a Master of Education from Boston University.
