Senior Manager Engineering- Data Management

Role Summary

The Senior Manager of Engineering will lead the Data Management backend team responsible for the large-scale data ingestion cloud service and the strategic connectors running on this cloud service. This service provides a highly scalable and reliable way for ingesting data from large scale cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) and SaaS (Salesforce, CrowdStrike etc.) services.

This is a distributed but close-knit team in Splunk Data Platform org, focusing on building the next generation highly scalable and reliable data ingestion framework.

What you'll get to do

If you possess a passion for outstanding technology leadership and embrace the challenge of working on highly scalable systems that handle large volumes of data, this position is for you. You will partner with the engineering and product leaders to define the strategic vision and direction for this team and product area. You will translate the vision to execution plan and deliver incremental business and customer value. You will build, grow and motivate a team of highly skilled and passionate engineers to efficiently build and deliver high quality customer solutions in this area.

Must-have Qualifications

  • Experience leading engineering teams developing and delivering large scale data ingest and/or processing systems.
  • Experience building cloud native applications in an agile manner using DevOps principles like CI/CD, TDD and build/test/release automation.
  • Experience working with public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) and SaaS services.
  • Experience with being the liaison between your team, Senior Management, Product Management and other cross-functional teams to drive roadmap and strategy for your product area.
  • BS CS/EE or equivalent with 12+ years of industry experience, of which 3+ years is in Engineering Management

  • Ability to champion an atmosphere of continuous improvement in the team by serving as a coach, mentor, and technical advisor.
  • Experiences recruiting and retaining top talent and supporting their career development.
  • Good understanding of emerging AI and ML technologies and concepts and how to apply those for building more intelligent customer facing solutions and products.
  • Experience working within geographically distributed organizations.
  • Broad understanding of various cloud development technologies and industry trends for enterprise-scale, distributed systems
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve systemic obstacles that prevent your team from delivering high-quality software.
