Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Manager of Field Solutions Engineering to lead a team of highly skilled technical professionals. This role blends the responsibilities of an Engineering Manager and a Product Manager, requiring both technical expertise and a deep understanding of business strategy. The ideal candidate will inspire and guide teams to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions while maintaining a strong focus on customer outcomes and business objectives.

 

The Senior Manager of Field Solutions Engineering will work closely with stakeholders across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams to drive the successful development and deployment of field solutions. This role demands a balance of strategic vision and hands-on technical leadership to ensure the delivery of impactful results.

 

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and mentor highly technical development teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Inspire and motivate technical professionals, enabling them to excel in both individual and team performance.
  • Balance rapid development timelines with the delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions.

Strategy & Vision

  • Develop a clear vision for field solutions engineering that aligns with organizational goals and technical seller needs.
  • See the big picture while defining actionable steps to achieve long-term objectives.
  • Translate complex technical requirements into business outcomes, ensuring alignment with broader company strategy.

Customer & Stakeholder Focus

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure customer requirements are understood and met.
  • Act as a bridge between technical teams and business leaders, effectively communicating ideas in the language of both audiences.

Execution & Results

  • Drive results through effective planning, prioritization, and problem-solving.
  • Ensure the team remains outcome-focused and delivers measurable business value.
  • Implement processes and best practices to optimize development workflows and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality solutions.

  • Proven ability to lead and inspire deeply technical development teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on achieving outcomes and delivering results.
  • Demonstrated customer-focused mindset and ability to balance technical and business priorities.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate effectively with both technical experts and business stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Track record of achieving a balance between rapid development and high-quality deliverables.
  • Experience in both engineering management and product management roles is a plus.




Requirements

Recommended requirements for a Field Solutions Engineering, Senior Manager role:

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.

Technical Expertise:

  • Proven experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Hands-on experience with Splunk products.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture and system design.
  • Hands-on experience with API development, App development or full-stack application development.

Professional Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in a software engineering, product management or technical consulting role.
  • 2+ years in a leadership or managerial position overseeing engineering or product teams.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering technical solutions in client-facing roles.
  • Experience managing projects with agile methodologies and tools like Jira or Trello.

Leadership and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Exceptional team management and leadership abilities, with experience in talent development.
  • Strong client-facing skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Skilled in managing relationships and driving collaboration across teams and organizations.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 30%.
