CTO and Industry Director

  • - Hybrid Remote
The Field CTO role is pivotal to rapidly growing Splunk's business by simplifying complex technologies, promoting cross-functional solutions, and identifying strategic partnerships. This dynamic position combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, blending deep technical acumen and consultative selling expertise to engage executives, managers, pre-sales teams, and engineers in advancing Splunk’s solutions. As a trusted advisor and recognized expert, this Field CTO player will drive operational excellence, establish scalable workflows, and mentor the team while providing executive sponsorship for key customer accounts. With a strong focus on collaboration, adaptability, and customer-centric strategies, this incumbent will help streamline workflows, mitigate risks, and position Splunk as a strategic partner for long-term success.  
 
  • Lead strategic conversations, establish relationships, and influence senior leadership across customer accounts to understand their objectives, simplify complex technologies and align solutions with customer needs  
  • Conduct conversations with high-level executives, seamlessly transitioning to technical discussions about Enterprise Security and IT Operations to craft future solution vision.  
  • Attend Executive Briefing meetings, serving as a well-rounded Subject matter expert  
  • Matter Authority (SME) with the technical depth to confidently present to diverse customers and teams of all sizes.  
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Product Management, Product Marketing, and Engineering teams, providing insights and feedback to align priorities with customer vision and benefit both customers and Splunk.  
  • Support qualified and strategic sales opportunities by working with account teams and senior sales leadership, participating in internal meetings, customer calls, and face-to-face customer meetings.  
  • Grasp and articulate the value proposition of strategic and tactical concepts for sophisticated customer requirements.  
  • Actively participate in internal discussions throughout the sales journey to positively influence key buyers and personas.  
  • Establish thought leadership within Splunk, in customer meetings, and public settings by demonstrating how Splunk's capabilities help customers overcome their top business challenges.  
  • Supervise groundbreaking industry movements and directions to help craft customer organization priorities.  
  • Regularly champion solutions as an inspiring leader with customers, at industry conferences, trade shows, and with partners (e.g., blogging, authoring, speaking at industry events, authoring content, participating in customer advisory boards, and executive education).  
  • Continuously improve job-related knowledge and skills through formal education, self-study, and independent work 
 
Must-have Qualifications  
 
  • Bachelor’s degree and MBA or equivalent work experience  
  • 15+ years of exposure in federal agency or adjacent organization leading strategic and technology transformation programs  
  • 10+ years of experience with Splunk solutions or equivalent industry solutions  
  • Deep technical background in technology infrastructure and cloud  
  • Professional tenure as an executive leading one or more of the following domains - IT, Infrastructure, Cloud, Engineering with P&L responsibilities  
  • Travel up to 50%
