Can I buy Splunk for Industrial IoT as a standalone product?
Splunk for Industrial IoT includes everything you need to protect, secure and conduct predictive maintenance on your critical assets: technology Add-Ons, industrial data model for Common Information Model (CIM), Splunk Enterprise, Machine Learning Toolkit and Splunk Industrial Asset Intelligence. Please contact us to request pricing information for Splunk for Industrial IoT.
What does the license metric “Sensor” mean?
Splunk for Industrial IoT is priced by how many sensors you choose to license. A “Sensor” refers to a unit that streams a single type of numerical time-stamped data from an asset, application or other entity into the software. A Sensor is measured as a unique combination of 'metric_name' and 'asset' that is ingested into Splunk's metrics index in the past 24 hours.
For every 1000 Sensors licensed, users are entitled to 6GB of Daily Indexing Volume to index unstructured data in Splunk’s event index.
The minimum number of sensors available for purchase is 500. The next available tier starts at 1,000 sensors, after which, sensors are sold in increments of 1,000 sensors.
Why is there unlimited data ingestion per day for licensed sensors stored in a Metrics index and a cap of 6GB for unstructured data ingestion per day stored in the Events index?
Splunk for Industrial IoT is a unique product that not only helps you monitor assets and reduce operational downtime but also secures your industrial operations by monitoring ICS systems. Splunk’s technology allows you to ingest both structured sensor data being emitted by equipment, applications, and servers, as well as unstructured data (e.g., logs, alarms, work orders) created by industrial control systems and applications. Therefore, Splunk is introducing a flexible licensing metric – sensor – that provides agility for a variety of use cases such as asset monitoring, predictive maintenance and ICS security. Sensor based licensing allows:
- Ingest an unlimited amount of metric data for licensed sensors, allowing process engineers to analyze assets and operations with high precision, and build complex machine learning models
- Ingest 6GB/day unstructured data (e.g., logs, alarms, network data, work orders) giving automation and security engineers the ability to monitor and secure the industrial control systems and applications within an industrial environment
Do I get a volume discount if I buy a larger Splunk for Industrial IoT license?
Yes. Splunk for Industrial IoT pricing has built-in volume discounts. You pay based on the number of sensors you would like to license. You can calculate your total plan price by multiplying your desired number of sensors by the unit price per sensor.
Can I buy an index volume not mentioned here?
Yes. The minimum number of sensors available for purchase is 500. The next available tier starts at 1,000 sensors and continues in increments of 1,000 up to millions of sensors. If you are looking for pricing at a sensor volume not shown here, please contact us.
Does my plan price include support?
If you purchase an Annual (Term) License, support is included in the license price. Splunk for Industrial IoT’s support offerings include all major and minor software updates and customer support. You can find more information about Splunk for Industrial IoT’s support offerings here.
What are the licensing options for Splunk for Industrial IoT?
Splunk offers both Perpetual and Term Licenses for Splunk for Industrial IoT. A Perpetual License is a one-time license fee that grants you an indefinite right to use the software for as long as you comply with all terms of the license agreement. A Term License is for a specific time period, usually a year, during which you are allowed to access and use the software. At the end of the term, you must stop using the software or purchase new licenses. Splunk also offers multi-year term license options for customers interested in a longer term commitment.
For the Annual (Term) License, the per unit price quoted above includes Standard Support. If you renew your Annual (Term) License at the end of your license period, you will also get Enterprise Support included.
What do you mean by “unlimited ingestion of sensor data (metrics) in the Splunk metrics index?”
Splunk for Industrial IoT includes a license for Splunk Enterprise. However, the license does not count data indexed and stored within the metrics index in the Index Volume/Day allowance.
What is Splunk Industrial Asset Intelligence (IAI)?
