Sr. Technical Marketing Engineer - Security

Role Summary

The Senior Technical Marketing Engineer (TME) brings technical experience and product knowledge to the Marketing team. As a TME, you will create technical sales enablement assets and compelling product demonstrations to illustrate how we address customer challenges, often working in conjunction with a Technical Marketing Manager (TMM). You will develop how-to guides to help practitioner-level customers reach buying decisions. You will collaborate with Product Management, Product Marketing and Sales Engineering to ensure that GTM content is technically accurate and delivers contextually relevant content that resonates with targeted technical personas. You will work with Splunk Technical Sales Enablement as subject matter authority to guide the development of Tech Sales Training and enablement, including New Hire Training.

What you'll get to do

  • Demonstrate the product capabilities in line with the associated GTM motion, Use Case and product line
  • Create compelling demos, videos, Sales Engineer (SE) sales decks, technical FAQs and related content relating to product launches, campaigns, announcements, live events, etc.
  • Recognize the problems and challenges faced by our customers and build content to address real world business problems and persona-based customer use cases
  • Deliver targeted enablement sessions for Marketing, Sales/SEs, and customers with original assets that drive home the value of Splunk products and resonate with our target personas
  • Address high-level questions about products (implementation, use, scalability, integration) in support of Marketing efforts and Sales opportunities
  • Engage with Sales/SE teams with 1:1 deal support, including opportunity progression, overcoming technical objections and bid/proposal support
  • Directly and frequently support Analyst Relations by providing demo support and explaining technical product features/capabilities
  • Translate Splunk capabilities into customer value by addressing Use Cases and customer pain points
  • Identify gaps and opportunities in our current offerings to better serve customer needs
  • Partner with Product Management to understand and articulate mapping of features to Use Cases.

Must-have Qualifications

  • 7+ years demonstrated experience with security, threat prevention, and analytics software
  • 5-7 years experience in tech marketing or sales engineering with five years experience with Splunk products, Splunk Architect preferred
  • Experience with programming/scripting languages, application integration via APIs
  • Consistent record of marketing to a highly technical personas within large organizations. You relate to our to technical buyers and customers within enterprises.

Nice-to-have Qualifications

  • Verifiable experience in developing technical marketing assets, sales enablement training, and tools, and presenting live and recorded enablement sessions to technical personas.
  • Expertise and hands-on experience within Security (SIEM, SOAR, Threat Detection and Response) or Observability (Application Performance Monitoring, Infrastructure Monitoring, AIOps, Incident Management) or other DevOps tooling. Industry security certification: CISSP, CISA, CISM, etc.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent professional experience.

Base Pay Range

Costa Rica

Base Pay: CRC 32,000,000.00 - 44,000,000.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
