The Role
The FinOps team within Cloud Operations is looking for an experienced Senior Manager to lead and mature the team responsible for reporting on and optimizing cloud spend and infrastructure purchasing. This Senior Manager will be an industry leader with extensive expertise in FinOps methodologies, Cloud platforms and team management, and who enjoys building highly collaborative, flexible, and fun team environments.
As the Senior Manager of FinOps, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the critical initiatives that drive Splunk’s efficiency across our multi-cloud environment. Aiming to master the unit economics of cloud. You’ll own the frameworks and processes for cost forecasting, infrastructure tagging, anomaly detection, chargeback/showback, and cloud usage optimization. You will also act as a key influencer across the organization. Embedding FinOps standard processes into engineering roadmaps, helping shape long-term infrastructure strategy, and enabling our teams to make cost-aware decisions without slowing down innovation.
Within Product & Technology, you will be at the heart of the intersection between business and technology. Fostering key partnerships across Product, Software Engineering and Finance in order to drive the product and process improvements. Your industry-grade FinOps expertise will guide a growing, multi-disciplinary team of 6-8 people with backgrounds in software engineering, data analysis and cost analysis. Your impact will be directly influencing business’ financial performance. This will be done through accurate cost reporting, and by establishing tagging standard methodologies and influencing their adoption. Planning and a long-term vision around FinOps is a core mission as you drive initiatives that meet immediate needs for sustained success.
This role is both operational and strategic. You’ll be deeply involved in hands-on execution while also playing a leadership role in evangelizing a culture of cost visibilityan and operational maturity.

- FinOps Mastery- Deep knowledge of the FinOps subject area - FinOps practitioner, active community contributor, or internal champion. Understanding of current trends in cloud economics and governance.
- Engineering & Leadership - You have experience managing engineering teams. Ability to lead changes at the product level.
- Vision - Find solutions to organizational impediments while enabling the tooling and processes for cloud cost visibility and optimization.
- Strategic Influencer - Engage and influence at all levels. Guiding engineering teams to reshaping business processes and partnering with finance leadership.
- Strong Communication & EQ - Experience partnering with multi-functional team members to develop and maintain a well-defined roadmap. Your partners will range from deeply technical to purely business and commercial (corporate finance, procurement).
- Data-Driven - Skilled in using data to create actionable insights, supervise KPIs, and communicate ROI on cloud initiatives.
- Change Agent -Experienced in driving organizational change in large, complex environments. You’re able to bring stakeholders towards FinOps maturity.
- Business savviness - Understand business context and the impact that your organization has on the business. You will track and improve cloud gross margins through collaboration across engineering teams. Keep partners and leaders informed of the business outcomes.
- Business savviness - Enjoy tracking work in progress, facilitating team rituals, and serving as an example of great communication. You can set clear organizational goals and objectives, and effectively measure the team against them.

Requirements: 10+ years of software development or cloud infrastructure experience working within cloud platform environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), 4+ years of experience in managing teams, FinOps industry expertise (ideally you’re a FinOps practitioner who has led a cross-functional team focused on cloud financial management), and strong familiarity with AWS Cost Explorer and FinOps tools such as Apptio Cloudability, CloudHealth or Flexera.

Base Pay Range
SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area
Base Pay Range: $203,200.00 - 279,400.00 per year
California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts
Base Pay Range: $182,880.00 - 251,460.00 per year
All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.
Base Pay Range: $162,560.00 - 223,520.00 per year
Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
