SAN FRANCISCO and LONDON - March 4, 2015 - Splunk Inc. (NASDAQ: SPLK), the leading platform for real-time Operational Intelligence, today announced that Finanz Informatik GmbH & Co. KG, the IT service provider of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe (Savings Banks Finance Group), replaced its enterprise-wide security information and event management (SIEM) platform with Splunk® Enterprise. Finanz Informatik will rely on Splunk software to optimize the analysis of potential security incidents. To learn more, read the Finanz Informatik case study.
“With Splunk Enterprise, we will replace our existing SIEM systems and centralize this functionality in one platform across the mainframe, network, Unix and Windows environments. The central indexing of relevant data sources allows faster identification and evaluation of anomalous activity,” said Irena Wagner-Osterloh, head of authorization technologies, Finanz Informatik. “Splunk software provides the same functionality as the legacy solutions, but across platforms while also adding more flexible analysis and visualization. Splunk Enterprise is a platform that meets our requirements for a comprehensive security information system and brings added value in other use cases.”
Finanz Informatik relies on Splunk software to monitor privileged user access to critical information in its systems and applications. By correlating data from the servers as well as across the entire IT landscape, Finanz Informatik can also identify the anomalous patterns of queries that could indicate an unknown threat. These patterns generate alerts that enable Finanz Informatik to investigate further and report at both the IT and executive level.
“Navigating today’s complex threat landscape and meeting modern compliance regulations requires monitoring of data access, processes and technology,” said Olav Strand, director of Central Europe, Splunk. “By indexing, monitoring and analyzing all machine data across the enterprise, Finanz Informatik can better ensure that anomalies are identified and users are accessing only the data they need. We are pleased to help Finanz Informatik take a step forward in security intelligence.”
