Splunk Appoints Stephen Sorkin Chief Strategy Officer

Splunk Veteran Will Shape Product and Business Initiatives

SAN FRANCISCO - September 3, 2013 - Splunk Inc. (NASDAQ: SPLK), the leading provider of software for real-time operational intelligence, today announced the appointment of Stephen Sorkin as chief strategy officer. In his new role, Sorkin will be responsible for developing and aligning product and business strategies across the company. Sorkin will report to Splunk Chairman and CEO Godfrey Sullivan.

“Stephen is one of Splunk’s most accomplished technologists and someone our customers know and trust,” said Sullivan. “He has done a brilliant job scaling Splunk’s engineering organization, and he understands our business and products inside and out. Stephen also has the analytical skills and technical experience to further extend Splunk’s leadership in operational intelligence and articulate its benefits to everyone from IT professionals to C-level executives.”

Since joining Splunk in 2005, Sorkin has held several positions in engineering management. In his prior role as vice president of engineering, Sorkin led development of Splunk’s flagship product Splunk® Enterprise. Before joining Splunk, he worked as a research scientist at HP Labs. Sorkin holds 11 U.S. patents, a B.S. in computer science from Stanford and a M.S. in computer science from UC Berkeley.
