U.S. Federal Government
"From now on, our digital infrastructure — the networks and computers we depend on every day — will be treated as they should be: as a strategic national asset. Protecting this infrastructure will be a national security priority. We will ensure that these networks are secure, trustworthy and resilient."
—U.S. President Barack Obama, White House Press Briefing, May 2009
Splunk supports President Obama's cyber security initiative every day for many Civilian, Defense and Intelligence agencies as well as Fortune 500 enterprises.
Splunk's IT Search technology lets you search and analyze all the data generated by applications, servers and networks devices in your IT infrastructure, from a single location in real time. Splunk is designed to meet the needs of highly complex, geographically dispersed and heterogeneous business and technology infrastructures. It's also easy enough for entry level IT personnel to use and complex enough to provide global situational awareness for cyber security organizations, allowing them to ensure their information is guarded from unlawful attack.
Enterprises and government agencies can now improve the availability of their IT infrastructures, meet security and compliance (NISPOM, DCID 6/3, FISMA, HIPPA, PCI, etc.) needs and cut operational costs.

Security and Compliance
Satisfy the requirements of multiple compliance mandates in the same system. Monitor access to and usage of all your sensitive data, and quickly generate reports to demonstrate compliance with the given regulation more simply and cost-effectively than before. Address many of the critical requirements of regulations and standards affecting United States federal agencies and contractors:
FISMA, FIPS 200, SP 800-53 - The Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002 called on the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to create standards for federal agencies. The Federal Information Processing Standards Publication 200, titled Minimum Security Requirements for Federal Information and Information Systems, is mandatory for all federal agencies. SP 800-53 is Special Publication 800-53, Recommended Security Controls for Federal Information Systems. Together these two publications constitute the foundation of security policy for all federal agencies other than national security information and information systems, which are instead covered by NISPOM and DCID.
NISPOM Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 of the National Industrial Security Operating Manual, titled Information System Security, applies to all agencies and contractors handling classified information and is concerned with the confidentiality, integrity and availability of such information.
DCID 6/3 - The Director of Central Intelligence Directive 6/3 addresses protecting sensitive compartmented information within information systems and applies to all federal agencies and contractors handling intelligence information.
Radically cut incident investigation times by searching all security-relevant data in seconds, for all types of security risks including complex fraud and insider threat issues. Monitor all security-relevant data to maintain situational awareness.
