At Splunk, we want pricing that is simple, straightforward, fair to the typical user and fosters adoption across your organization. For our full-featured Enterprise version, pricing is based on the amount of data indexed PER DAY. No charges for number of users. No charges for the number of CPUs or cores or nodes. No charges for data sources or data types. No charges for the number of searches or volume of data searched. And no charges for the total amount of data you store in Splunk.

Once you license Splunk Enterprise, have as many people as you want use the software and create as many searches, alerts, correlations, reports, dashboards, and automated remedial actions as you need, at no additional cost. Want Splunk as a service? Splunk Storm delivers the power of Splunk as a service and on a monthly subscription plan.

Significant Volume Discounts as Your Usage Increases

Customers receive significant volume discounts with larger licenses (higher daily indexing levels).

Splunk Enterprise Software Cost

Flexibility

Even in the best run environments, there may be unanticipated spikes in the daily data volume. Users of Splunk Enterprise can currently exceed the daily indexing amount specified in their license up to 5 times per month. Users receive a warning each time, but the data continues to be indexed and all functionality continues to work. If the user exceeds the daily licensing limit more than 5 times within a month, then all data continues to be collected and indexed but the user must contact Splunk for additional license capacity in order to access Splunk's search capability and other features.

Perpetual and Term Licensing

There are two options for licensing Splunk Enterprise: perpetual and term.

• Perpetual license: this includes the full functionality of Splunk Enterprise and starts as low as $5,000 in the U.S., plus annual support fees.
• Term license: this provides the option of paying a yearly fee instead of the one-time perpetual license fee. Term licenses start at $2,000 per year in the U.S., and this includes annual support fees.

Splunk Storm

We also offer an elastic, cloud-based service called Splunk Storm. Created primarily for developers in the cloud, Storm is available as a free service at small volumes and is licensed for higher volumes on a monthly subscription basis. Because the service is run in Amazon's cloud, the monthly charge currently is based on the total volume of data you want to store and not daily index volume.
