Role:
As a Senior Software Engineer in the Strategic Initiatives group, you will be responsible for modernizing the Splunk Platform to address evolving customer needs through delivering on cross-team big bets that ultimately increase digital resiliency. In this role you will be expected to apply your expertise to drive innovation, design high performance and scalable systems, write code, lead by example, collaborate across teams and functions, role model quality best practices, mentor junior team members, and deliver customers outcomes.

Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this role include:
  • Gain a deep understanding of our product architecture, usage patterns, and real-world deployment scenarios to develop innovations and solutions that will bring value to our customers
  • Enhance the product, keeping scalability and performance considerations as a high priority
  • Lead and drive projects to completion with minimal direction
  • Partner with other leaders from architecture, engineering management, and product management on project requirements
  • Collaborate with members of our team to design and create durable and effective solutions
  • Help identify and develop ways to improve the team's productivity and efficiency by expanding on our existing tools and processes.
  • Keep product quality top of mind with automated testing
  • Become well-versed in Splunk's core technologies as they apply to application development
  • Role model that ensures the team is following software development, maintenance and quality best practices
  • Mentor junior engineers

Requirements:

The successful candidates should have these knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience focused on cloud application development
  • Have a deep understanding of building products with CloudFirst approach. (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
  • Proficiency with one of these languages: Python, Go, C++
  • Being able to understand delivery models (CI/CD, Dockers, Containers, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Good understanding of databases both relational and non-relational
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly
  • Familiarity with backend application development frameworks such as Django
  • Working experience with design and engineering teams to plan, develop, and release software
  • An understanding of test-driven development (TDD)
  • Experience with an agile software development model

Note:

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $174,800.00 - 240,350.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $157,320.00 - 216,315.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $139,840.00 - 192,280.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
