Highlighted Topics from RSAC 2024 Conference
Generative AI and cybersecurity
Arguably the hottest topic from the RSAC Conference would be generative AI and its opportunity to revolutionize cybersecurity practices. It demonstrated its value in rapidly onboarding SOC analysts, helping them achieve proficiency more quickly, and improving the accuracy of their work. Another critical use case was streamlining situation reporting, enabling security teams to better communicate threats to stakeholders like legal, HR, and operations.
These advancements make generative AI a crucial tool for leveling the playing field between defenders and adversaries. This signals its potential to transform security operations in the years to come.
Most Innovative Startup 2024
Each year, a panel of judges will assess a number of startups and decide who will win the Most Innovative Startup and for this 2024 conference, a New York company was chosen and it is called Reality Defender. This startup detects fraudulent AI generated media where Ben Coleman, Co-Founder and CEO, recognizes that Generative AI is a trillion dollar company where anyone can create fiction on demand. He says “while the outputs are fake, the threats are real.”
Software supply chain security
Another notable topic was the current software supply chain security, focusing on the challenges of managing third-party components and services. Experts highlighted how AI and ML can automate vulnerability detection and remediation while underscoring the need to ensure the trustworthiness of these systems.
