All Splunk products and features go through the same lifecycle phases, from preview to end of life. Explore each phase below.

Preview release phases

Get early access to unreleased software and provide valuable feedback to development teams. See programs and terms and conditions at Voice of the Customer.

Access early builds of products or features that may have limited or restricted functionality. By invite only. Other disclaimers may apply:

 

  • Bugs or defects may be present
  • Not recommended for production use
  • Limited regional availability
  • Product or feature may be retired without notice
  • Support policies and programs do not apply; however, support may be provided by the development team on a best-effort basis
  • Limited-to-no product documentation
  • Standard service level agreements do not apply
  • Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable Splunk Pre-Release Agreement via the preview portal.

Mature builds of products or features, available to all customers who meet architecture or deployment requirements via Voice of the Customer or by opting in through the product UI.

 

  • Can be used in production
  • Limited regional availability
  • Best effort will be made to notify customers if product or feature will be retired
  • Support policies and programs do not apply; however, support may be provided by the development team on a best-effort basis
  • Available product documentation
  • Standard service level agreements do not apply
  • Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable Splunk Pre-Release Agreement via the preview portal.

Early Access

Production quality products. May still have limitations on customer access, features, maturity and regional availability.

 

  • Production quality software for use in customer production environments
  • Products or features will not be retired without notice
  • Product documentation available on Splunk Docs
  • Support policies and programs apply
  • Standard service level agreements apply

General availability (GA)

Production quality builds of products or features. Availability may be gradually rolled out upon release and may only be available to a limited group of customers.

 

  • Production quality software for use in customer production environments
  • Roadmap for regional availability
  • Products or features will not be retired without notice
  • Support policies and programs apply
  • Product documentation available on Splunk Docs
  • Standard service level agreements apply

Retired software

From time to time, Splunk will retire GA software through a phased approach to ensure customers are aware of the impact and timeline.

Support and maintenance will continue for the remainder of contractual commitments but there will be no additional sales or feature development.

Products and product versions transitioned to end of life (EoL) at a pre-communicated date will not be available on Splunkbase or any website.
