We talked with Fernanda Duran, Manager, Security Platform Engineering; Héctor Arcia, Sr. Manager, Finance Operations; and Oscar Castro, Security Governance Analyst to get their take on what makes Splunk such a standout place to work in Costa Rica. Flexibility
When asked what makes Splunk stand out from other employers in Costa Rica, one of the first things all Splunkers said was the flexibility to work in ways that work best for them. Oscar said this had made such a difference for him, even his friends have noticed! Apparently they say, “‘Oscar, you look so happy every single day, it looks like you love your job. Why is that?’ And I always tell them it's because of the flexibility that I've been offered.” This is especially important for him, as he’s studying for a master’s degree. The flexibility to continue his studies while working also enables him to have a good work-life balance.
Wellbeing
The next thing that made Splunk stand out? The focus on wellbeing for employees. Fernanda appreciates that leaders and the company understand why it’s important “to invest in ourselves and to have this wellness and balanced life that we really need to deliver our tasks perfectly.”
“I mean, how many companies offer the entire organization global rest days?” noted Hector. “Just having a day after a high season of work, it's going to give the entire organization the time to relax, to recharge and get back to work with more energy and ready to take on new challenges.”
Global Communication
The warm welcome Splunkers in San José receive makes them feel well connected to the global community from day one. As Oscar put it, “From day one, you get all your invites for the weekly corporate meetings. You get your invites for each organization that you belong to. So you can tell from day one, from week one, from your onboarding, that you belong to something, that you belong to Splunk.”
Hector found it refreshing that Splunkers are kept so up to date, sharing, “I think that actually shows the interest of the company to communicate the message and the ideas and the strategy to the entire organization. And I think that's something unique that Splunk offers to the entire community of Splunkers.”

The chance to do amazing work that helps our customers to build digital resiliency on a global scale is another draw. For Fernanda, working in security at a company that also provides security is a major win. “For us to be able to provide this certainty to the customers, to the users, and to everyone involved, it's very rewarding. Providing this service and contributing to make all the environments secure is something that is very impactful for me personally.”
