AppDynamics: Driving excellence with SAP Certification for NetWeaver and S/4HANA

In May 2018, AppDynamics launched its industry-first ABAP agent and followed with newly released functionality on a quarterly cadence. Since then, AppDynamics has continued to secure several new certifications from SAP, including the ability to run inside SAP ECC-based systems and the advanced SAP® S/4HANA product suite. AppDynamics has steadily upgraded and released new features focused on ensuring our SAP product is easy to install, upgrade and collect diagnostics from; including the most recent announcement that AppDynamics Monitoring for SAP Solutions achieved SAP-certified integration with SAP S/4HANA and SAP® NetWeaver.

What SAP certification means for AppDynamics customers

The latest release of AppDynamics Monitoring for SAP solutions provides a consolidated view of SAP and non-SAP performance metrics, system bottlenecks and performance anomalies identified in real-time, to allow for issues to be resolved before impacting the SAP processes that your business relies on. This solution has been proven to interoperate with both SAP S/4HANA and SAP NetWeaver (i.e., SAP ABAP-based systems) and conforms to the SAP-defined standards required for your mission-critical systems.

AppDynamics for SAP — technical compliance

The SAP Integration and Certification Center (ICC) has certified our solution for deployment on both SAP NetWeaver 7.50 via the SAP integration scenario ABAP Add-On Deployment for SAP Enterprise Resource Planning, and SAP S/4HANA 2020 via the SAP integration scenario ABAP Add-On Deployment for SAP S/4HANA. The certificate confirms the technical compliance of AppDynamics Monitoring for SAP Solutions 21.11.0 with SAP certification procedures. SAP Integration and Certification Center (SAP ICC) provides a “Security Code Scan Assessment” service to identify security threats, vulnerabilities in products from SAP partners like AppDynamics and gain insights into the security of the partner’s software. AppDynamics Monitoring for SAP Solutions software (running on the SAP ERP 2005 & SAP S/4HANA 2020 On Premises) successfully completed the SAP ABAP Security Code Scan Assessment. SAP ABAP Security Code Scan uses the SAP tool, CVA (Code Vulnerability Analyzer) to scan the code base, report issues and propose correction solutions. The successful test confirms the execution of the vendor product in accordance with SAP security guidelines and indicates that all the “Priority 1” and “Priority 2” classified security flaws have been resolved or mitigated.

It’s been a few years since AppDynamics began delivering code-level visibility, business transaction performance monitoring and overall Advanced Business Application Programming (ABAP) stack health for organizations that rely on SAP products. AppDynamics Monitoring for SAP Solutions integrates with SAP S/4HANA and SAP NetWeaver using SAP standard integration technology. This certification (valid through March 2025) provides assurance to our shared customers that AppDynamics ABAP Add-On components are certified from a deployment and security perspective and align from a technical perspective.
