Splunk Cloud Attains FedRAMP High Authorization

Splunk is proud to announce that Splunk Cloud Platform has achieved FedRAMP High authorization. In reaching the highest level of FedRAMP authorization, Splunk Cloud offers the entire spectrum of security standards necessary for all government agencies to modernize their strategies and adopt the cloud. Federal agencies and their partners can leverage Splunk Cloud Platform with FedRAMP High to help manage the government’s sensitive data and enhance security posture.

FedRAMP is a U.S. government-wide program that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services. Agencies can leverage the FedRAMP Marketplace to select Cloud Service Providers (CSP) with services that meet their mission requirements.

FedRAMP grants authorizations to CSPs at three impact levels: Low, Moderate, and High. Splunk first received its FedRAMP Moderate authorization in 2019 and continued its FedRAMP journey with the FedRAMP High attestation. The FedRAMP High authorization is one of the most rigorous attestations a cloud service provider can achieve. FedRAMP High includes over 400 security controls and is considered the security standard to protect the federal government’s most sensitive unclassified data in the cloud.

"Obtaining FedRAMP High authorization was a significant milestone for our organization as it demonstrates our unwavering dedication to the highest standards of security in the federal space. With our proven track record of delivering innovative and effective security solutions, combined with our commitment to continuous improvement and collaboration, we are the preferred choice for public sector organizations. This accomplishment further reinforces our position with public sector customers and strengthens our contributions to our nation's cybersecurity mission." – Bill Rowan, VP of Public Sector at Splunk

With immense amounts of data across countless enterprise sources, the U.S. Government holds the most sought-after data globally, making it a constant target. FedRAMP plays a crucial role in maintaining consistent security across all government cloud services. It ensures that all government agencies and cloud providers adhere to a set of unified standards for evaluating and monitoring the security of cloud services.

Public sector organizations across the globe are leveraging Splunk Cloud Platform every day — including all three branches of the U.S. government and 15 cabinet-level departments — to enhance their digital resilience and cybersecurity efforts. In June 2023, Splunk also attained StateRAMP authorization for the Splunk Cloud Platform at a moderate level and in August of 2022 Splunk obtained its IL5 for the Splunk Cloud Platform. Just this August, Splunk SOAR achieved FedRAMP authorization at a moderate level.
