Splunk Ranked #1 in Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 Rising Star

Position Recognizes Company's Rapid Growth Powered by Disruptive IT Search Technology

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — October 31, 2008 — Splunk, the IT Search company, has been ranked number one among fifty companies included in the 2008 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Rising Star program for Silicon Valley. The Rising Star award is a special designation for fast-growth companies that have been in business a minimum of three years, and is part of the Silicon Valley Technology Fast 50 program. Rising Star rankings are based on percentage revenue growth over three years (2005-2007). This year's Silicon Valley Technology Fast 50 program is co-presented by Deloitte, Silicon Valley Bank, Korn/Ferry International, Cooley Godward Kronish LLP, Cornish & Carey Client Solutions, and ABD Insurance and Financial Services — A Wells Fargo Company.

Over the past three years Splunk has experienced tremendous growth and hit significant milestones: doubling the number of employees; achieving 250,000 downloads; increasing the customer base to 750; and expanding globally with offices added in Europe and Asia. Being awarded top honors, with a number one ranking, amongst Deloitte's 2008 Rising Stars solidifies Splunk's continued progress and the growth of IT Search. New strategic global partnerships and the recent addition of CEO and president, Godfrey Sullivan, spotlight the significant progress made by the company, and further demonstrates the disruptive impact that IT Search has made on data center management.

"Making Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 Rising Star is a testament to a company's vision that has resulted in exceptional growth over three years," said Mark Jensen, partner and national director, Venture Capital Services, Deloitte & Touche LLP. "Splunk's leadership team has the right stuff for growth, and Deloitte salutes their accomplishments."

"We're really proud to be recognized at the top of the list, amongst this year's pool of Rising Stars," said Michael Baum, Co-founder and Chief Corporate and Business Development Officer. "At the heart of our success is our disruptive technology, viral business model, and incredibly talented and passionate team. IT Search is fundamentally changing the way complex IT infrastructures are managed, secured and audited for compliance with increasingly stringent mandates. And in the current economic climate customers appreciate being able to do a lot more with a lot less using Splunk." added Baum.

To qualify for the Technology Fast 50 Rising Star program, companies must be incorporated a minimum of three years and have revenues in only three or four years, have operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 2005 and $5,000,000 in 2007, be headquartered within the San Francisco Bay Area (subsidiaries or divisions are not eligible, unless they have some public ownership and are separately traded), and own proprietary technology or proprietary intellectual property that contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues or devote a significant proportion of revenues to the research and development of technology. Using other companies' technology or intellectual property in a unique way does not qualify.

Rising Star companies are automatically entered in Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 Rising Star category. Its Rising Star ranking is based on percentage revenue growth over three years (2005-2007).
