We’re looking for a seasoned VP of Engineering to join the team and lead engineering efforts for our Search Technology group, the core technology powering Splunk's data products. Your team would be responsible for Splunk's search language, core query technology, data fabric layers, and services that power both on-premise and cloud-native solutions. This includes developing deep technology capabilities at the frontier of information processing scale and speed, to be used throughout the Splunk product portfolio and ecosystem.

We expect leaders to embrace the full spectrum of team needs, from helping drive new product creation, to scaling existing solutions, to hiring and mentoring world-class teams, all as part of a collaborative, cross-domain product group.

Your experience with deep information retrieval technology (e.g. search), large scale distributed systems, and leading teams with a high density of senior engineering talent is important. Likewise your experience leading engineering teams across multiple, large scale business or consumer product areas is meaningful.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Build and develop an extraordinary engineering team that delivers with velocity and quality
  • Develop key internal relationships with executive members, Vice Presidents, peers, and external colleagues.
  • Work with customers, field teams, and product teams to deliver valuable solutions for customers
  • Evolve and execute world-class product development processes
  • Work with partners outside Splunk on product, technology, and team innovation
