Programme Overview

As part of our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant Splunk is investing in Military Service leavers who are keen to pursue a career with Splunk as technical experts. Splunk is offering a fully funded training path, including exams, for a group of individuals who demonstrate a desire and aptitude for a technical career as a Splunker. All applicants will undertake a rigorous selection process prior to the successful applicants being funded and supported through the training paths. There will be two phases of enablement to be completed. On successfully completing the training, candidates will be offered a full-time position using the certifications and accreditations achieved.

This programme is specifically designed for individuals who are in their notice period, leaving the military in the next 4-6 months with time to undertake comprehensive training. There are two paths of enablement to reach either Sales Engineer or Professional Services Consultant. On successful completion of the enablement, individuals will be joining the Public Sector team and working with Central Government, Defence and Security environments. Applicants will therefore require Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance.

Programme Breakdown

Mutual Commitment
Splunk is prepared to invest in candidates who are driven to achieve the required level of certification for each phase in the timeframe allocated. The timeframes of each phase are shown below.

  • Feb '21: Application, interview & selection
  • Mar – Apr ‘21: Complete online courses & pass all exams up to and including Certified Admin
  • May-July '21: Complete all courses & successfully pass all exams upto and including Certified Consultant in Splunk Enterprise. Participate in consultant/SE shadowing

In the selection phase candidates will apply for a place on the programme in the same manner as applying for a job. Focus will be on transferrable skills, technical ability and aptitude to work in Splunk. Applicant will be down selected and interviewed as any person applying for a role at Splunk.

The successful applicants will all follow the same training path during Phase 1 of the program. This training is online and completed at the desired time of the candidate i.e. evenings and weekends. 

In Phase 2 candidates will undertake training to progress to a PS Core Consultant. This will involve scheduled training online or in person. It would also require attendance to examination centres to attain the correct certification. This phase would also incorporate on the job training and experience via shadowing current Splunk Consultants as appropriate. At the successful conclusion of all certification, a full-time role at market rates will be offered.

Professional Services Consultant

A Splunk Professional Services (PS) Consultant helps the Customer realise the vision that the Sales team sold. The PS Consultant is the expert who can guide the customer to develop their own skills to build on what has been delivered. Engagements can range from a few days to implement a standalone Splunk environment to many months working with the Customer to define and prioritise their Use Cases and then delivering the outcomes they desire. Consultants are assigned to one customer project at a time and produce design and implementation documentation as part of their role.
