Role:

Splunk Services UK Limited (“Splunk”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Splunk Inc., is currently seeking a Security Controller (SC) to help scale and manage the Splunk U.K. Public Sector classified information security program in our London office in compliance with UK Ministry of Defence and other national government security requirements. This position is in the Legal Department and will report to the Senior Legal Counsel, U.K. & Ireland, with a dotted line to the Director, Legal and Contracts, Public Sector.

To succeed, the role requires you to be diligent and dedicated; have the ability to perform cross-functionally and flexibly in a collaborative team environment; know how to prioritize and drive multiple initiatives independently and in a timely manner. We are looking for a hardworking person with deep customer focus that can work with our government affairs, legal, compliance, physical security, government security and public sector business teams to scale our program to meet the demands of multiple customers. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are a must.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish credibility with the customer base, Partner community & Government vetting and security organisations as a subject matter expert and provide procedural and governance support in all matters of vetting and clearances
  • Guide process and procedure involving management and handling of resource security clearance
  • Provide support and advice to company leadership regarding rules and regulations of physical security standards involving handling of government classified information
  • Manage and report on the current status of all UK company personnel holding Government security clearances
  • Work closely with government affairs, government security and legal leadership to ensure conformance with Government requirements
  • Collaborate with different Splunk functional teams to understand the needs regarding resources requiring different clearances
  • Handle the processing of resources requiring and undergoing vetting processes
  • Liaison with U.K. Government authority IPSA and/or List X advisor(s)
  • Develop a good working relationship with third party organisations such as ADS
  • Ensure sub-contractor vetting services are aligned with the Splunk procurement process and within approved budget
  • Ensuring compliance with vetting and List X security standards
  • Implementing required security controls
  • Preparing and Implementing RMADs
  • Preparing Security Operating Instructions (SyOps)
  • Implementing security awareness training on IPSA and/or List X requirements within the company
  • Implementing and leading a security incident management process including reporting to the Authority
  • Owning the IPSA and/or List X visitor process
  • Co-ordinate security clearance processes, training and policy within the Splunk Legal Department (including Government Affairs and the Splunk U.S. Facility Security Officer)
  • Assist with the coordination of the function of Security Clearances across EMEA Splunk locations and requirements

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Extensive experience of UK Government personnel vetting processes and regulations regarding establishments holding and processing Government protectively marked information
  • Deep understanding of systems & processes necessary to obtain, process and manage UK Government vetting and security practices
  • Strong communicator with solid executive presentation skills
  • Clear understanding of IPSA and List X requirements and rule interpretation
  • Excellent understanding of UK Government Vetting and Security organisations and processes

Desired Qualifications

  • Successful completion of DISA (or equivalent) Security Controller course
  • Understanding of international security clearance processes across EMEA (Including NATO and Five Eyes countries)
  • Ideally will hold minimum clearance level of MoD Developed Vetting (DV)
  • Must have high ethics, integrity, and humility and be able to work with other teams
  • Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional teams tasked with full life-cycle support
  • Ability to build and maintain high credibility with sales teams and strategic customers

Note:

Base Pay Range

United Kingdom

Base Pay: GBP 64,000.00 - 88,000.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
