Splunk is looking for a technical lead in Santa Clara, to provide day-to-day leadership to our Splunk Cloud TechOps team. This position is responsible for making key technical decisions that help drive our operational infrastructure that deliver Splunk’s SaaS customer facing systems. As a TechOps Lead , you will be working with other multi-functional leaders on key, critical initiatives. You will partner with senior Engineers to solve difficult problems. You will help grow and mentor the broader operational team as well as interact with senior leadership to propose solutions. We're looking for someone to bring a fresh approach to problems of all shapes and sizes and help us build an outstanding Splunk Cloud TechOps team.

Responsibilities:

Splunk's Cloud group is looking for skilled engineers to support and build our large scale Cloud offering. You will be working with a fun, diverse, geographically distributed team to deliver an excellent product and an outstanding experience to our customers.

  • You are passionate about building and running distributed systems at scale in production. You understand the challenges and trade-offs to be made when building and deploying systems to production.
  • You constantly consider "How can I automate this process?"
  • Knowledge of standard methodologies related to security, performance, and disaster recovery.
  • Skilled in identifying performance bottlenecks, spotting anomalous system behavior, and determining the root cause of incidents.
  • Experience supervising cloud environments using tools like Splunk, VictorOps and Nagios
  • You care about good documentation and appreciate how it allows a distributed team to function.
  • Ability to seek sophisticated problems, resolve operational issues, and interact with vendors to find solutions.
  • Comfortable working with critical, customer-facing issues and able to prioritize quickly when customer concerns happen.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience as a Linux system administrator supporting enterprise computing platforms and systems.
  • Experience running sophisticated systems in AWS or GCP.
  • Experience with Python or Shell for scripting, and Git or similar version control systems.
  • Experience supporting customer facing SaaS infrastructure or similar cloud related services.
  • Experience in coordinating or architecting distributed Splunk environments.
  • Bachelor's Degree or comparable work experience.
