Would you like the opportunity to work at a fast-growing company that is changing the way that information is used to support business decisions? You will have the responsibility of actively driving and leading the technology evaluation stage of the sales cycle. Working in conjunction with the global sales leader for Global Service Provider (SP) business as an advisor. Additionally, you will position Splunk's technology and solutions to both business and technical users. You will identify all technical issues of your assigned accounts to assure complete client happiness throughout the sales process, and establish positive relationships with your client's technical staff

Role

Splunk is looking for an experienced Solution Architect to join our Global Service Provider (SP) Sales Team, where you will be the key technical resource for our relationships into the top Global Outsourcers. This is not your traditional sales engineering role where you go from demo to POC and repeat the process. Working closely with our Global Sales executives to align Splunk’s capabilities to drive business outcomes for our partners’ use of Splunk solutions, both internally (ie. The CIO is the customer) and as part of their service offerings (Splunk embedded in an offering the partner sells to an end customer).

The responsibilities and activities for this role include: evangelizing Splunk products; providing technical product and deep architectural expertise; supporting, staffing, and speaking at partner events; providing presentations at the C-level; delivering ongoing communication of the latest Splunk capabilities and partner enablement; building groundbreaking prototypes to support your account business plans, and drive additional “Design in” adoption.

A deep understanding of the service provider (MSP/MSSP/Outsourcer) ecosystem is highly preferred. You’ll need to travel and engage in on-site work with your accounts when required. You will need to be or quickly become, a Splunk expert so our partners can be successful with Splunk products.

This is a top-level individual contributor role, with commensurate expectations of performance, professionalism, integrity, and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain leverage-able relationships with key technical staff and leadership in the designated global SP accounts.
  • Understand and articulate the accounts’ enterprise and solution architectures, and priorities, and determine where Splunk products can have the most impact.
  • Detail a technical landscape for the account that highlights Splunk opportunity along with competitive takeouts & threats.
  • Work in close collaboration with sales execs to build and execute a technical business plan.
  • Qualify technical opportunities and provide pre-sales technical support throughout.
  • Serve as a technical advisor to the account on Splunk technology
  • Design and launch differentiated service provider offerings; see your work impact the business!
  • Demonstrate Splunk products and services to customers on-site, remotely via webinar sessions, and at field events such as conferences and trade shows.
  • Support Proof of Concept/Proof of Value engagements
  • Responding persuasively to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs is also important.
  • Identify and align Splunk technology specialists and leadership for focused discussions with customer SME’s and leaders
  • Participate in and deliver Business Reviews and executive briefings
  • Identifying, leading, and contributing to the creation of standard methodologies, white papers, workshops, and “brown bag lunch ‘n learns”

What you need to succeed

  • 10+ years relevant Sales Engineering or Solution Consulting experience, selling enterprise software products to IT organizations and C-level officers
  • Domain expertise or understanding of multiple technical domains: IT infrastructure, Security, DevOps, Analytics, Application Management, and Cloud computing/products/services
  • Understanding of architectural principles for cloud-based platforms including SaaS PaaS, multi-tenancy, and automation.
  • Product and/or Project Management experience is preferred
  • Relentless Curiosity - with a desire to question, research, learn, and grow (on repeat)
  • Nimble learning - quickly grasp the essence of new issues and concepts
  • Collaboration - work across teams in a highly matrixed organization
  • Influence - navigate complex partner organizations, identify stakeholders and power players, and build credibility and trust with them
  • Bias for action - someone who addresses new opportunities and challenges with a healthy sense of urgency, and has the ability to set, communicate, manage to and meet bold milestones and deadlines.
  • Growth Mindset.
  • Strong understanding of how IT service providers, business process outsourcers, and managed service providers make money, as well as the industry pressures they face.
  • Don’t just talk, listen. Ability to quickly understand and interpret customer problems and navigate complex organizations (aka red tape)
  • An all-around geek: experience with management tools, network gear, servers, applications, and other cool web technologies
  • Should be available to travel to visit your accounts, up to 30% of the time.
  • BA/BS or equivalent required, in business, IT, or communications
  • Master’s preferred
