Senior Software Engineer - Backend (multi-cloud)

Role

We are hiring for Mid-Level and Senior Software engineers. We build world-class solutions to produce, collect, and send observability data in a unified, open-source, and friction-free way. As a Software Engineer on the GDI (Get Data In) Team, you'll help define how to best monitor a large variety of technologies, with a focus on Cloud Services, and how to get this data into Splunk. You'll demonstrate your strong Java and/or Go development skills and broad experience with modern applications and Cloud-Based Services to extract meaningful metrics from various AWS, GCP, and Azure Services. You'll also build and maintain a variety of Integrations between Splunk and various Providers to help Splunk fit seamlessly within our customers’ existing DevOps workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Build data collectors to ingest customer data into the Splunk
  • Build integration with cloud providers to set-up observability platform and anomaly decorators specific to customer data sources
  • Build solutions to ease customer onboarding, encourage trials, make it easier to close deals, and help Splunk to be seen as thought leaders in both the observability as well as the open-source communities.

Requirements

  • Experience in writing highly-performant Java code. Python and/or Go is nice to have.
  • Strong working knowledge of one or more Cloud Platforms (AWS, GCP, and/or Azure), and a deep understanding of how these technologies are being utilized in both Dev/Test as well as production environments. Experience utilizing and/or integrating with Amazon Cloudwatch, Google Stackdriver, and Microsoft Azure Monitor is a huge plus
  • A strong foundational awareness of how modern applications work and communicate, specifically as it relates to networking and API development/usage
  • Extensive knowledge of Linux
  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
