Senior Product Manager, PM Process and Operations – Splunk Core Platform

Role:

The Core Platform Product Strategy & Operations team is focused on getting results for the company through product strategy, portfolio planning/optimization, process improvements and strategic initiatives.

As the Senior Product Manager, you will report to the Sr. Director of Product Management and partner with cross-functional leadership team to develop and execute processes and metrics that drive improvements for the PM process at Splunk.

In this role, you will take a consultative approach to the SDLC, map out the PM process and recommend process improvements, tools and metrics to track success.

You will have exposure to senior-level decision-making and have the chance to establish relationships with people across the entire company.

You should be someone with a product management experience who takes a process oriented appoach. You are an authority in all areas of process development and implementation including: project management, executive communication, consensus building, and people development. You have participated in or driven the Enterprise software product and SDLC process and have experience working with GTM teams.

You should also have strong technology experience and aptitude to pick up and dive deep into the technology if required. In addition, you demonstrate the ability to thrive in an unstructured, collaborative environment. You should have strong stakeholder-management skills. And you should have a clear, proven understanding of business trade-offs as well as a history of being trusted with critical business decisions.

The role will be based either in Santana Row (San Jose) or in San Francisco.

Responsibilities:

  • You will help optimize the PM process that spans all phases of the product lifecycle including product portfolio strategy, release planning, release management and general availability of products
  • You will drive highly visible projects for the Splunk Product Management team; Work cross-functionally to structure problems, analyze opportunities, and develop solutions and actionable recommendations and results through a rigorous approach rooted in data
  • You will be in-charge of rolling out new tools for improving PM process and/or business cadence
  • You will develop strategic and business cases working with cross-functional teams outlining business opportunity, rationale, and execution plans to achieve the vision for the opportunity including product, GTM strategies, and business model
  • You will uncover areas within the product org. to drive performance improvements to unlock productivity and accelerate execution
  • You will work with cross-functional team (product, engineering, PMO, sales, marketing, corp dev) to conduct build vs buy vs partner analyses to execute on growth opportunities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.)
  • 10+ years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Successful track record of bringing new products to market
  • Prior project management experience over software development efforts
  • Experience with Agile software development
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to bring together multiple functions (R&D, Marketing, Quality, Operations, etc.) as a cohesive team
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical abilities
  • Degree or background that allows you to understand engineering problems and trade-offs.
  • Self-starter who enjoys working in a dynamic, reciprocal, and innovative high-growth environment
