Senior Product Manager, Developer Efficiency

As a Senior Product Manager for Developer Efficiency, within the IT Engineering group, you will play an important role in enabling Splunk to scale and innovate effectively, empowering IT engineers to spend more time building innovative experiences for our customers and partners. Your mission is to simplify and accelerate the software development experience for the IT engineering team. You will deeply understand and triangulate across customer needs, product analytics, and external industry innovation to offer best-in-class experiences to IT engineers.

This role has two accountabilities: You will be accountable for the success of our Continuous Delivery Platform initiative to automate the delivery and increase developer effectiveness across all IT teams. You will be accountable for Web Platform products that enable rapid time to market for IT web and mobile applications by providing a foundational skeleton with pre-built frameworks, libraries and common services. You will also be responsible for driving the overall vision, roadmap and product features we deliver for our diverse set of partners across both products. You will need to influence (without authority, in some cases) other product team roadmaps and prioritize CI/CD efforts in their backlogs. Understanding the needs of developers across the teams, you will build the Web Platform product roadmap and strategically prioritize capabilities that drive the greatest developer efficiency and speed to market. Using your technical expertise and deep experience in delivering features using agile methodologies, specifically Scrum, you will have to balance priorities to deliver on measurable outcomes. The role requires collaboration and communication with senior leaders, and executives while defining detailed functional requirements, delivering within an agile delivery framework, and supervising critical metrics. This position requires you to be a self-starter with the ability to take ownership, balance various tasks simultaneously while contributing to a positive work culture. In addition, phenomenal verbal communication and written documentation skills are critical for this role.

What you'll do: Yeah, I want to and can do that.

  • Drive product vision and strategy for developer effectiveness offerings and align with partners
  • Evangelize CICD platform and Web Platform product processes, and technology to various teams by holding info sessions, demos, and CICD platform deep dives.
  • Develop product roadmaps that inform our engineering teams of what problems need to be solved. Partner closely with our engineering teams on the execution of product strategy and roadmaps
  • Create strong partnerships with IT engineering teams creating continuous feedback loops that allow us to better understand their problems
  • Articulate our CI/CD platform strategy, rollout and migrations plans informed by an evaluation of solutions such as Kubernetes, ECS, managed solutions.
  • Actively network with key industry contacts to understand standard methodologies and emerging practices and how they can be used within the company
  • Define and standardize Key Performance Indicators that will help aid in the decision-making process and showcase results
  • Product backlog prioritization responsibility to ensure the highest business value is being delivered
  • Independently author technical feature requirements in the form of user stories and acceptance criteria for varying business scenarios
  • Ensure that our product evolution thoughtfully addresses product adoption/migration experience and provides clear guidance and recommendations to the IT engineering teams
  • Present roadmaps, sophisticated ideas and features to broad teams in an effective manner.
  • Establish our developer experience principles: how our products should feel to developers and the core attributes that we want them to embody

Requirements: I’ve already done that or have that!

  • Demonstrated passion for developer effectiveness and proven experience within the DevOps/CICD field
  • Expertise in Product Management and a proven track record in a platform-centric enterprise software company. A healthy blend of deep technical knowledge with customer-focused mentality
  • Experience delivering solutions using modern CI solutions, such as GitLab, CircleCI, Travis, or Jenkins
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of bigger and smaller bets while balancing short-term goals and long-term vision
  • Comfortable applying a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to define success and problem solving without perfect metrics
  • Good balance of IQ & EQ to be able to solve both technical and social challenges
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; timely communication with clear expectations

Preferred knowledge and experience: These are a huge plus.

  • Hold a current Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification preferred
  • Experience operating with a geographically dispersed workforce

Education: Got it!

  • BS or MS in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent experience required
