Splunk is looking for an imaginative and adaptable Senior Instructional Designer/Trainer with a passion for creating engaging and impactful learning experiences. As a member of our Recruiting Operations Team, you’ll shape and elevate our onboarding and training programs to help scale our recruitment team. Intrigued? Please read on.

In this newly created role, you'll have the opportunity to lead a broad scope of training projects from vision to execution, including redefining our team's new hire onboarding, enhancing on-the-job training for our recruitment team, and building the skills of our interviewers and hiring managers to deliver a world-class candidate experience. You'll conduct training needs assessments, prioritize learning objectives, and create targeted content to drive adoption of recruiting tools, technologies, and processes.

To be successful, you'll need to partner across Talent Management, People Operations, Employee Experience, Legal, Engineering and Sales teams to understand the market and business needs. Strong technology experience is a must! You should be willing to be hands-on and have an aptitude to pick up and dive deep into the technology if required. Additionally, you should thrive in an autonomous and constantly-evolving environment.

This is a contract position which can be based anywhere in the United States except for Alaska, North Dakota, or Wyoming.


  • Manage all aspects of worldwide recruiting learning programs - including needs assessment, planning, design, delivery, and evaluation - to onboard, upskill and develop team members across multiple geographies
  • Facilitate worldwide in-person and virtual training according to industry methodologies to ensure the best possible learning experience for a wide variety of learning styles
  • Collaborate with recruiters, sourcers, schedulers, Talent Management, Employee Experience, Total Rewards, People Operations, Legal, Finance teams to expand our recruitment and hiring training and development programs
  • Interact with Senior Leadership and utilize data to determine specific training needs and harmonize training goals with the overall department objectives
  • Assist with the implementation of new product features and process changes by working with subject matter mavens across teams, scope our needs and build targeted training
  • Maintain the team’s knowledge base system and update material to accurately reflect standard operating procedures


  • 8+ years of experience in instructional design, training resources development, adult education or equivalent in a worldwide environment
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and theories with proven track record of adapting style and content to meet the needs of appropriate audiences
  • Familiarity managing courses and learners in learning management systems and intranet platforms to deliver training resources and materials
  • Outstanding learning and development skills -- you're confident in self-identifying gaps in knowledge, recommending solutions, working with individuals with varying training styles, and communicating performance results to leaders
  • Demonstrable experience and results crafting and facilitating high-quality learning solutions including in-person and virtual live instruction
  • Organized, analytical, and detail oriented.
  • Energetic self-starter passionate about professional integrity and excellence with a positive attitude and contagious enthusiasm
  • Strategic thinker that’s not interested in the status quo. You love thinking about opportunities and process improvements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex processes down to clear and concise steps.
