Role

The Data Science and Analytics team at Splunk focuses on delivering impactful data and machine learning-driven insights to both external and internal customers. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-value cloud data pipelines, APIs, and applications.

Our data analytics platform was crafted to satisfy the data quality requirements of our high-value and high-complexity data, while also providing fast query performance, ease of maintenance, automatic self-healing, immutable data, and fully automated CI/CD code deployment. Our technology stack includes Python, Scala, Kinesis, S3, Lambda, Athena (Presto), MySQL, and Postgres. This platform supports in-app analytical reports, machine-learning features, and reporting for our internal partners.

Our team is composed of a group of driven, creative individuals who love data. We work closely together to solve the sophisticated challenges involved in data analytics in the cloud. And we have a lot of fun doing it!

Responsibilities

  • Become an expert on Splunk data and its various use-cases
  • Develop and operate accurate, secure, stable data pipelines using modern cloud technologies
  • Build and operate cloud infrastructure like using tools like Terraform
  • Build and maintain data APIs and applications that provide data and insights to customers
  • Collaborate with data scientists to support the implementation of machine learning systems in production
  • Support internal data analytics needs by publishing data to data analytics tools for internal use

Requirements

  • Experience with developing data pipelines using modern tools (e.g. S3, Lambda, Kinesis, Postgres, Kubernetes, Flink, etc.) 
  • Experience coding with Python (required), SQL (required), Scala (preferred)
  • Experience developing data APIs and applications using cloud tools (required)
  • Experience with DevOps tooling like Terraform and Puppet (preferred)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to discuss the product with PMs and business owners (required)
  • Ability and willingness to work with a team in an Agile development environment (required)
  • B.S. degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics or a similar quantitative field
  • 8+ years of work experience in a relevant field (Data Engineer, DW Engineer, Software Engineer, etc.)
