Role

As a member of the Cloud Security team, you will collaborate with other security and operations teams to execute on strategic plans and develop tactical execution methodologies which improve the “protect, detect, and respond” capabilities of Splunk Cloud.

The ideal candidate has a passion for developing and operating simulated cyber attacks based on prioritized threats to Splunk Cloud. This role is be responsible for validating and enhancing detection and response capabilities, and will aid Cloud Security and its partners in establishing monitoring and mitigation strategies.

Cloud Security Engineers work with our partner teams to identify and develop sophisticated playbooks and new integrations with a wide range of security technologies and services. The role involves not only developing the solutions but working with our internal customers and partners to improve their projects by providing mentorship on how to resolve technical issues and challenges. The ideal candidate enjoys the challenge of solving complex problems and seeing results that generate success.

Responsibilities

This role provides engineering and operational support for cutting edge security tools, as well as deploying and running services that make full use of both private and public cloud services. The role is also responsible for Planning, Design, Testing, Deployment/Implementation, Break/Fix, Patching, Change Control and Service Maintenance/Support/Updates of high complex security systems to fulfill Splunk Cloud’s business needs. This role will provide security engineering support in the following areas:

  • Test key threat scenarios against Santander's business using adversarial attack tools, tactics and techniques.
  • Replicate sophisticated cyber attacks to continuously test and improve the capability of the company's Global Security Operations Centre and Forensic response teams.
  • Validate cyber defenses and hardening of critical systems to mitigate future cyber risk.
  • Identify advanced malicious activity that has evaded traditional security monitoring capability.
  • Support the global response to high profile incidents to ensure the timely completion of all cyber investigations.
  • Develop and maintain the documentation and manuals of the different process executed in the department.
  • Coordinate with partner security teams during offensive and defensive engagements.

Requirements

  • 7 or more years of security experience in penetration testing, information security hardening technologies and techniques, cyber attack simulation, cloud infrastructure security, or similar.
  • One or more of the following certifications: GPEN, GWAPT, GXPN, OSCP, OSCE, OSWE, or CEH
  • A strong foundation in the deployment of a wide range of security solutions. Experience in Linux and cloud-based infrastructure is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately assess problems and requests from multiple perspectives, analyze approach feasibility, and decide on the efficient course of action.
  • A proven understanding of Kubernetes multi-tenant deployments at scale. This includes security, hardening, policies, and deployment in infrastructures such as Amazon EKS or Google Cloud Platform GKE.
  • Strong ability to communicate data, facts, and analysis of technical subject matter.
  • Must be an US Citizen.
  • Open to US remote but must work on US soil.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with Splunk, DevOps tools, CI/CD, and/or Git
  • Multiple relevant security certifications (CISSP, CISA, etc.)
  • Understand CIS, GDPR, PCI and FedRAMP regulations and the protections afforded customers and employees
