What is a Sales Engineer At Splunk exactly...

Corporations rely on technology to run their businesses. Splunk Products allow customers to investigate, monitor, analyze and act upon their data with one platform. The Sales Engineer is the technical member of the Customer Account Team. They are the trusted advisor to both customers and the Sales Representative as the Splunk team collaborates to find the right solution for the business scenarios that are most important to the customer. Sales Engineers tinker with the tech and translate it for a business ear. The ultimate goal of course, is the success of the customer.


What you’ll do in your first six months at Splunk:

New Splunk Sales Engineers will get the opportunity to become familiar with the Splunk Product line through observatory sessions with tenured Sales Engineers:

  • Partner with a tenured Sales Engineer as they work.
  • Shadow customer calls and help out with presentation development, workshops and/or technical concept proof events as the account team moves the customers towards the close of sale.
  • Meet weekly with your team, manager and mentors and discuss what you’ve learned and how
  • Hone your Splunk presentation skills and prepare to present technical concepts to customers and how to discover their needs
  • Polish your evangelizing technique talking about our products and services to customers (without being pushy!)
  • Meet Splunkers from all walks of life and explore what Splunk has to offer


Who are we looking for?

People with 2-5 years of full-time work experience in any industry who see themselves in the “This Job is for You” section. Ideally you have had at least three years experience as a pre-sales sales engineer selling SaaS products… or something very, very similar.

Meeting and exceeding success criteria in your previous roles -- be prepared to discuss this throughout the interview process.
