As a Splunk GSS SE (Sales Engineer), you’ll be the primary technical sales resource within our GSS (Global Shared Services) that supports Asia Pacific. You will be part of the technical capability in our GSS team serving our internal teams, as well as customers, partners, and prospects.

Splunk SEs in the GSS respond to technical requests from the field SE, CSM, and sales teams that are aligned to a service catalogue. This can involve demonstrating Splunk technology, features, solutions, applications as well as articulating Splunk technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading or participating in discovery conversations with prospects (autonomously or in collaboration with your sales counterpart) to assist in discovering and/or validating opportunities.
  • Demonstrating Splunk products and services to customers remotely via zoom sessions, which may include webinar / workshop-based events.
  • Participating in value events such as sample dashboards and proof of concepts.
  • Responding to technical questionnaires and requests for information.
  • Establishing and maintaining communication throughout the service ticket cycle.
  • Answering technical questions plus addressing customer concerns to a successful outcome.

Requirements:

  • Ability to develop a strong understanding of each target client’s business, operations, and industry trends, including understanding the strategic business and technology goals.
  • Understand how Splunk’s solutions can provide capabilities and benefits to address the client’s business needs.
  • Proficiency in delivering product demonstrations and conveying technical value propositions optimally.
  • Customer-focused mentality with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to find innovative solutions to client challenges.
  • Passion to continuously learn Splunk technology and adapt to a diverse set of use cases.
  • Ability to support development and articulate business value/return on investment case studies.
  • Establishing and maintaining positive relationships throughout the service ticket cycle, not limited to our customer's technical staff.
  • Ability to be organized and analytical and should be able to eliminate sales obstacles using creative and adaptive approaches.
  • You should be comfortable working for a dynamic technical organization with a rapidly growing customer base.
  • Work closely with the GSS team to develop and continually improve working practices, best practices, GSS processes and procedures.

Previous Experience:

  • Experience working with application environments, with the ability to understand relevant sources of machine data, such as performance logs, application logs, audit logs, security data sources, network centric data, etc.
  • Experience and hands-on skills with operating systems like UNIX, Linux or Windows
  • Experience and hands-on skills with scripting languages such as Python, as well as with regular expression (RegEx) pattern matching would be an advantage.
  • Prior experience with search engine technologies and query languages would be an advantage.
  • Presales’ experience working for an Enterprise Vendor would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the sales process and sales methodologies would be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Thai, Indonesian or Vietnamese would be an advantage and beneficial.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience.
  • Technical certifications would be an advantage.

Note:

OTE Range

For sales roles starting salaries are expressed as On Target Earnings or OTE (OTE = base + on-target incentives in the form of sales commission plans).

Malaysia

On Target Earnings: MYR 142,400.00 - 195,800.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the On Target Earnings (OTE) range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the OTE will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to OTE, this role may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
