Public Relations and Social Media Intern (Summer 2021) - Remote

Are you an undergraduate student that is dedicated to building an exciting career in communications? Here at Splunk, we're looking for a dynamic individual to join the team this summer as our Public Relations and Social Media Intern.

You should be a highly-motivated, innovative problem solver with a desire to grow your skill set within Splunk's Corporate Communications team. This will be a completely virtual internship (yes, we encourage you to work where you are most comfortable) and you will report into the Manager of Public Relations that is based in San Francisco, California.


  • Support Splunk's Public Relations and Social Media team, enabling you to explore your passion for communications and contribute to Splunk's award-winning marketing organization
  • Create a wide range of content including story angles for PR campaigns, social media collateral, briefing pages and blog posts
  • Work closely across the organization to support coordination of .conf21, Splunk's 12th annual user conference
  • Evangelize Splunk customers, partners and executives through relevant communications platforms
  • Maintain internal databases to support influencer identification, team-wide analytics, relationship tracking and social media campaigns
  • Support Splunk marketing campaigns through research
  • Learn and work in various communications technologies to support ongoing success; including Sprinklr, Dynamic Signal, TrendKite, Google Docs and more


  • We encourage you to share any relevant examples of creative writing samples such as press releases, blog posts, bylines, social media copy, essays or poems
  • Expertise in social media channels including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and more. Experience with blog platforms and/or social media metrics technology is a plus.
  • Attention to detail, excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Most importantly, a Splunky demeanor!


  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or a related field; preferred as a rising senior.
