Splunk Observability, which includes the Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring, Splunk APM and Splunk Log Observer product lines, is a fast-growing, bias to action team. As a Software Engineer on the Splunk Observability ingestion team, you will be responsible for running, optimizing and enhancing SaaS ingestion services. We ingest a variety of data formats and protocols at substantial scale. In addition, we continue to enhance ingestion capabilities while also introducing new product lines.

Our engineering teams are small, fast-paced and highly visible. We are looking for experienced engineers who are passionate about the quality of their work and like complex and impactful projects. Responsibilities

  • Contribute to Splunk Observability SaaS ingestion
  • Optimize the performance and cost of the ingestion tier
  • Build new ingestion tiers for new product lines
  • Release, operate and maintain ingestion services across multiple realms

Requirements

  • Strong experience with distributed systems at scale
  • Experience with programming in Golang; additionally Java or Python a plus
  • Understanding of Kafka, gRPC and Thrift
  • Working knowledge of containers, Kubernetes and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP and/or Azure)
  • 10+ years of Software Engineering experience
  • Masters in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
