Principal Software Engineer, Engineering Productivity

You are an engineer who is a full stack engineer who excel at frontend engineer, API and backend.  You are a super coder who pays attention to the quality of your code, enjoy and values writing automated unit, UI and integration tests.  You have leveraged CI/CD, infrastructure like K8s, Gitlab to help your full stack teammates move faster with quality and confidence.  Most importantly you love empowering other engineers do their best work.

Engineering Productivity

We make engineers more productive and engaged through training, technical documentation for common practices, SDLC measurement, identifying common friction and removing human toil from engineer's daily work.


  • Identify and solve the biggest pains that hamper developer cycle time.
  • Contribute code to build tools and infrastructure, set an example for building scalable, testable code with as little future maintenance as possible to help other engineers get their work done faster, with better visibility and higher quality.
  • Actively engage in design and architectural reviews for infrastructure and tools that enhance engineering productivity and efficiency
  • You are expected to partner with our internal product manager to identify common solutions across engineering
  • Provide recommendations to monitor, measure and improve all aspects of the SDLC at Splunk.
  • Learn various products at Splunk in order to deeply understand our products in order to engage with all engineering teams.

Minimum qualifications

  • 10+ years of hands on software engineering experience
  • Full stack engineering experience (React, API, backend)
  • Experience with at least 2 programming languages in the following order - Javascript/Node.js, Python, Golang, C++, Java.
  • Demonstrated history of learning new technologies quickly
  • Experience in helping multiple teams improve their productivity, velocity and code quality
  • Extensive experience with CI/CD and infrastructure (Gitlab, Github or equivalent)
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Experience with delivering cloud native products
  • Hands experience with either AWS, GCP or Azure
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • A passion for helping other people generally, and developers specifically

Preferred qualifications

  • Have used and managed Splunk products
  • Have conducted new hire or technical training sessions
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams (product management, customer success, legal, finance, marketing, etc.)
  • Have created tools & automation for yourself and other engineers
  • Written engineering documentation to help other engineers
