Role:

The Data Edge team at Splunk is responsible for building high speed and secured data transmission interfaces with leading cloud service providers and products from other top tier software engineering companies. These interfaces are designed to retrieve the data, transform and stream it, run real-time analytics, and organize the data in Splunk, at scale. As part of this team, you will have the opportunity to design and build APIs that are highly available, performant, and resilient to work with numerous infrastructure components from different cloud service providers and open source offerings. You will have the autonomy and work with top-notch software engineers in the industry. You will also have the opportunity to influence the open source community through multiple open source projects that are either in flight or yet to come. Responsibilities

Design and build APIs to collect and process system, application, network, and OS level data

Write highly performant and scalable Java and/or Golang code

Automate the diagnosis of performance and scalability issues

Apply creativity to improve the API design for current and upcoming needs

Write the tooling and generate code to make your own and other people's job easier

Design and implement the optimal test strategy for our services

Take ownership and initiative to address issues promptly for our internal and external developers

Mentor junior engineers and constantly raise the bar on engineering best practices across the team

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science or Engineering required, MS preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in software engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience developing in Java or 3+ years’ experience in Golang
  • Experience building scalable applications/APIs
  • Experience developing cross-platform integrations
  • Good understanding of operating systems (Linux, Windows)
  • Experience writing infrastructure as code for a deployment pipeline
  • Effective time management skills

    Desired Experience
  • Programming in C++ (desired but not required)
  • Experience on streaming/analytics platforms e.g.  Kafka, Flink
  • Working on open source projects
  • Experience working with popular cloud services
  • Experience with code sustenance and ability to balance priorities
