The Splunk Customer Reliability Engineering team is comprised of individuals who are authoritative in the Splunk Cloud Service. We're viewed as one of the most helpful and effective teams within Splunk.

We're looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineering leader to join our team and infuse more SRE mentality into the team. As Splunk transitions more into cloud native services and our expectations of customers shift to reflect the new model our interactions with customers need to adapt as well. This is an opportunity for you to help shape and influence the SRE mentality into the team.

Our team has a broad charter, to ensure that our customers have the most fabulous experience using our service. We accomplish this by being hands-on throughout our customers journey. We help our partner teams to solve complex and difficult customer issues. Our team members are huge believers in the principles of Site Reliability Engineering and work to apply those principles when helping our customers achieve the success at scale they expect.

We take the insights from those experiences and work with the various groups like engineering, platform, app ecosystem, and product management to drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the service.


  • Your primary focus would be to mentor and develop other members of the CRE team in the SRE subject area.
  • You'll also be expected to engage with Sr. Leadership, business partners, internal team members, and collaborators to drive initiatives supporting the organization’s most critical business priorities and initiatives.
  • You will tackle technical issues to establish the root cause of problems and form a solution or workaround across a variety of environments.
  • You will take the findings from solving problems and use them to drive product and service improvement.
  • You will understand and adapt to any constraints a team you need help from are working under and work towards mutual understanding.


  • Strong background and experience in Site Reliability Engineering
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop others outside of a management role.
  • Experienced in external customer facing roles.
  • You approach problems from an analytical standpoint and let data drive your decisions.
  • You're always looking for the common ground.
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Aptitude for communicating with customers at levels appropriate for this role.
