Job Description

 

As an Principal Engineer on Developer Experience Team, you will be at the heart of Splunk’s

engineering process building software that empowers engineering teams to develop and

deliver high quality products quickly. We are focused on solving the hardest, most

interesting challenges of developing and testing software at scale without sacrificing

stability, quality, velocity or code health.

We ensure Splunk’s success by partnering with engineering teams and developing

scalable tools and providing scalable infrastructure that help engineers develop, test,

debug and release software quickly. We impact Splunk Engineers and our customers by

increasing the pace of product development and ensuring our products are shipped with quality.

We are looking for candidates who share a passion for building scalable and robust

Frameworks and services for our CI/CD pipeline which enable and help

developers deliver quality software to customers quickly. 




Role

As a Principal Software Engineer on the Developer Experience Team you will-

  • Drive the technical vision and strategy to help improve Developer Productivity across the Platform team.
  • Design scalable platforms that enable developers to improve the edit/build/test flow .
  • Drive adoption of best practices in code health, development productivity, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate effectively with other engineers to solve the most complex technical problems. This involves mentoring, peer reviews, participating in technical design reviews, and complex issue troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Strong fundamentals in software engineering: data structures and algorithms
  • 5+ years experience working with CI/CD tools and pipelines (Gitlab, Github Actions)
  • 10+ years of coding proficiency in one or more of the following languages with the ability to quickly learn new languages: Go, Python.
  • Knowledge of typescript/javascript is a plus.
  • Experience/Familiarity with test automation frameworks, code coverage, SAST tools. 
  • Kubernetes/Docker experience.
  • Observability/Opentelemetry is a plus.
  • Knowledge of any one of the public cloud services like AWS, GCP, Azure 
  • 3+ years of experience developing, implementing, rolling out and evolving an Internal De Experience/Productivity platform.
  • Experience setting technical direction and planning, and successfully executing on large projects spanning multiple teams
  • Ability to lead discussions about complex solution design tradeoffs, as well as the capacity to drive conflict resolution
