Do you have a passion for building beautiful mobile apps that integrate with IoT devices? Do you want to be part of the founding team for a new IoT product and build something from the ground up?

Splunk's Toronto Engineering team is looking for an Mobile Software Engineering Manager to help lead, design, mentor and build an efficient, productive, and fun organization. You will be a hands-on technical manager who still enjoys coding iOS and Android apps and has a passion for the latest in mobile. Your team will also focus on the UI for an embedded IoT application that the mobile apps connect to. You will participate in helping to build roadmaps and release planning.


  • 8+ years hands on experience developing commercially released iOS and Android mobile apps
  • 3+ year software management experience leading, mentoring and growing agile software teams
  • Knowledge of Swift/Objective-C, UIKit/SwiftUI, unit tests, deploying to App Store, and working with iPhone/iPad/Apple Watch.
  • Proficient in developing Android apps with Java/Kotlin, understands MVVM architecture
  • Proven experience in leading architecture and technical design
  • Experience working in an agile, scrum methodology environment
  • Experience with setting up CI/CD pipelines.


  • BS CS/EE or equivalent experience

  • Has regular and effective 1:1s with team members.
  • Does regular check-ins with team members to provide observations and feedback.
  • Works with cross-functional peers (e.g. PM, Design, PMO) in shaping and executing team work.
  • Proactively tells stakeholders outside the team the current state, without being unreasonably optimistic (sugar-coating) or paralyzed by pessimism (nay-saying).
  • Ensures the team knows about key efforts in their area and the org more widely.
  • Facilitates communication between the team (as a group or individually) and other teams.
  • Helps provide senior leadership visibility to the impact and growth of individuals on the team

Nice to have

  • Experience using LiveData and dependency injection using Dagger on Android
  • Experience with embedded application UI using frameworks like Kivy
  • Experience with machine learning
