Manager, Security Engineering (US Remote Available)

Role Summary

Splunk produces software for searching, monitoring, and analyzing machine-generated data via a web-style interface. We are a globally recognized leader in our field, dedicated to innovation and empowering organizations to turn data into actionable insights. As the Manager, Security Engineering at Splunk, you will manage a team of engineers passionate about hardening the security of endpoints in the cloud and in our corporate environment. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver on key results related to corporate and cloud endpoint protection. This role will report to a Senior Manager of Security Engineering within the Splunk Global Services organization, ultimately reporting up to Splunk's Chief Security Officer.

What you'll get to do

  • Manage a team of 6-10 security/software engineers.
  • Set team goals and objectives, conducting regular one-on-one meetings with team members.
  • Lead all aspects of day-to-day team technical operations, ensuring efficient and effective collaboration.
  • Develop short-term and long-term work plans to achieve security objectives.
  • Drive enhancements and improvements to security processes.
  • Field project requests from other teams at Splunk.
  • Seek to improve the team by removing barriers to success through interactions with Splunk employees and customers.
  • Mentor and grow junior engineers, and empower and unblock senior engineers.
  • Partner with our Talent Acquisition team as we recruit, interview and hire the best engineering talent to join Splunk’s growing Security team!

Must-have Qualifications

  • A prior leader with 3+ years of technical leadership experience, with a strong focus on people and team development.
  • Experienced leading engineering teams and familiarity with agile development philosophies.
  • Experienced in deploying, managing, and debugging security endpoints on Windows, MacOS and Linux in cloud and corporate environments.
  • Experienced in network security and zero-trust principles..
  • Experienced with SOC2, PCI, and/or FedRAMP compliance standards.
  • A hands on technical manager that can step-in an help a team member with a technical problem they are facing
  • An individual that wants to learn new technologies and continuously improve processes.
  • A metrics driven person who understands the importance of what is measured.

Note:

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $163,200.00 - 224,400.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $148,000.00 - 203,500.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $136,800.00 - 188,100.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
