Summary:
Join Splunk to help us expand our Enterprise Data Governance product and services part of the Enterprise Data Management (EDM) team! As an Enterprise Data Steward, you will support the US Data Steward team by providing both data products and intelligence critical to drive investment, improvement, and proactive governance of the data used for Splunk GTM, Finance, Procurement, Human Resources, Legal, and Product Engineering operations and analytics.
Responsibilities:
- As an active member of the EDM Data Governance team, partner with onshore Stewards to develop a prioritized work portfolio
- Build and maintain connections between Data Governance platform and data sources, including but not limited to SFDC, SAP S/4, ARIBA, RevPro, Anaplan, OneTrust, Workday, Gainsight, Splunk, Xactly, Snowflake & Tableau
- Conduct routine metadata harvesting to generate metadata catalogs for business platforms and conduct analysis to ensure accuracy of the business, operational and technical metadata.
- Build data governance workflows to support data owner review, enrichment and certification of metadata catalogs
- Develop data quality jobs based on metadata and generate quality issue reporting and notification to onshore Stewards and data owners
- Monitor data quality jobs and provide preliminary analysis, and collaborate with Business Stewards to support prioritization based on impact factors
- Conduct routine harvesting of data integrations within / between platforms and develop data lineage maps. Analyze lineage maps to identify and report data redundancy, inconsistency in distribution of enterprise data across Splunk data models
Requirements:
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in developing, deploying and maintaining data governance, quality, management and analytics solutions both as programs and “run the business” improvements
- Working experience with using Data Governance tools (Collibra, Atlan, SAP Data Services, or similar) and Data Quality tools to implement a data governance operating model, metamodel, data import/export model for content, workflows, dashboards, widgets, views and build Data Quality rules and dashboards
- Experience configuring, implementing and managing data connectors in Data Governance tools to extract metadata & content from business sources
- Experience using technical data harvesting tools, ELT and reporting connectors to implement end-to-end data lineage
- Experience in building Data Dictionary, Business Glossary for the enterprise
- Experience in performing Data Audits for large enterprises
- Participates in meetings, workshops and interviews with Stewards, business and technology data owners to understand strategy and delivery requirements
- Participate in daily, weekly stand ups and work planning meetings to pipeline and deliver work according to program and operational requirements
- Experience in collecting requirements, get clarification on data, report challenges, etc.
- Knowledge of data governance, protection, and quality methodologies
- Knowledge of business operations processes in Sales, Customer Success, Finance, HR and others
- Understanding of Role Based Access Controls, data access policies and how data governance products & services support those controls and policies
- Exposure to Agile delivery models and using project management tools such as JIRA, ServiceNow, Smartsheets, Planview
- Strong SQL Skills to perform detailed data analysis
- Hands on experience in Snowflake
- Knowledge of SAP MDG tool and experience in setting up master data for Cost Center, Profit Center, GL Account etc.
- Strong desire for learning new technologies and tools and willingness to innovate.
Nice to Have:
- Industry certifications in Data Governance/Data Quality Tools
- Experience with more than one industry leading DG/DQ tools and experience with Implementation of Enterprise Data Quality Framework
- Knowledge of Python, DBT and Tableau. Experience in enterprise platforms such as Salesforce, SAP, Workday etc.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
