Engineering Manager - Developer Ecosystem

Role

The Developer Ecosystem group at Splunk is looking for an engineering leader to help lead and grow a team of passionate engineers.

You will have a set of extraordinarily talented and dedicated peers, from engineering to documentation to product management to user experience.

You will be responsible for leading a team of highly capable and committed engineers to help external developers and partners successfully build solutions on Splunk’s cloud platform by giving them the SDKs, tools, and guidance they need.

You are an experienced technical leader and expert in expanding cloud platform capabilities for developer use cases with extensive front and back end technical expertise. Our team is passionate about software engineering, and continuously improving in how we work.

Responsibilities

  • Foster individual growth of engineers by posturing them for success in an increasingly cloud-first world.
  • Partner with cross-functional team members (PM, UX, Docs) to develop and maintain a well-defined roadmap, while balancing technological excellence.
  • Build a culture of inclusion, transparency, continuous learning, growth, and sharing of technological insights.
  • Inspire the team by contextualizing the work in the greater business picture.
  • Share and solicit feedback early and often.
  • Educate and advocate for engineering best practices within the platform ecosystem.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain world-class engineers.
  • Drive practices in training, development, and efficiencies across multiple feature teams.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of technical leadership or management experience in software engineering
  • 8+ years of product development experience building rich user experiences for scalable
  • Proficiency in REST web services and API design.
  • Demonstrated ability to design tooling or platform features for application development.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver multiple complex technical projects in an agile environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of learning, psychological safety, respect for differences and collaboration across all engineering skill levels.
