Role

The Director of the Web Studio will contribute to the design of our web presence on splunk.com and other public facing websites. You will work with the broader Brand+Creative team to successfully represent the Splunk brand through web design. You will lead and mentor a team of highly skilled Web UI Designers and set the web design vision on splunk.com.

This role requires a high-level of collaboration with the brand studio, web marketing and content marketing along with subject-matter experts across several groups in marketing, sales and other areas of the business to deliver a highly engaging site.

You will have a hands-on background managing, producing and optimizing efforts with a roll-up-your-sleeves work ethic and real passion for all aspects of web design. You are able to understand high-level systemic project requirements and apply web, UI, design and brand expertise to achieve strategic goals. This role is full-time based out of the San Francisco HQ location and will report into the Senior Director, Brand+Creative.

Responsibilities

  • You will build, inspire and coach the web design team while driving the evolution of Splunk branded web design. You’ll manage and mentor the UI Designers who produce the design system, and all public facing visual executions for Splunk marketing.
  • You will collaborate with the marketing department, content producers and management to refine the user experience while working closely with web UX, web publishers and web developers for delivery. You stay up to speed on the technology that makes it possible.
  • You’ll partner with the Brand Studio to translate the core Splunk brand into our digital properties that takes advantage of modern visual language and the unique interactivity the web offers. You will set the vision for a premier website that blends business and customer needs.
  • You will help to establish and regularly report on metrics to measure success and continuously improve creative executions.

Requirements

  • You are passionate about responsive web design, user experience and web code and can bring new and innovative ideas to improve the web presence.
  • 12+ years of hands-on web design experience.
  • 5+ years management experience of web design teams of at least 4 people in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience and familiarity with the technology industry is required. Software experience is a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of web technology capabilities from front to backend development.
  • Remain current on the latest in web technologies and have a consistent record of implementing successfully on enterprise grade websites.
  • Expert knowledge of UI design standard methodologies and web production techniques.
  • Ability to successfully communicate conceptual ideas, design rationale and the specifics of a user centered design process.
  • Shown experience originating new concepts and innovative design approaches for web which have significant impact on marketing efforts.
  • Possess a can-do, get it done demeanor to push execution forward while appropriately attending to any roadblocks. Work cross-functionally with multiple teams to achieve a consensus on design.
  • Excellent communicator across different mediums. Strong social skills working across multi-functional/international internal and external teams.
  • Hardwired to appropriately handle multiple projects and priorities, timely and efficiently.
  • Ability to mediate and cope with rapid change and comfortable with problem solving while maintaining calm under pressure.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic company.
  • Proficient in MSOffice suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in G Suite: Docs, Sheets, Slides.
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Figma (or similar UI design software) required.

Education

  • BA or MA in Graphic Design, Communication Design, Information Design, Digital Media Design or other Visual Design field.
