In this role, you will work closely alongside the wider Sales and Sales Engineering Leadership teams and various Internal Audit, Product Management, Engineering, Legal, global security, and Customer Success teams to ensure our worldwide SE team’s readiness, strategies, and field execution is consistently aligned with our customer needs and corporate strategy.



  • As an integral part of the SE leadership team, you will be accountable for successful technical interlock and execution for Splunk’s pre-sales field team.
  • Own prioritization, strategy, performance, and development of the Technology Security and Compliance practice across the Global Sales Engineering organization.
  • Partner with the Customer Success Leaders, Product Management, Internal Audit, Splunk Global Security, Legal, and Technical Enablement teams to drive continuous field improvement.
  • Ensure expertise and capability across SE (technical readiness), providing recommendations to leadership on resourcing, direction, and technical development.
  • Craft customer expectations and align outcomes with customer requirements while focusing on business value.
  • Provide input into the Field PM and broader PM organization to influence the technical priorities of our product roadmap.



  • Comfortable leading change, developing processes, implementing procedures, and working cross-functionally to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Experience working with internal and external partners, including executive leadership across the Pre-Sales organization, in a positive and effective manner to drive execution.
  • Firm understanding of pre-sales business priorities and practices in Sales Engineering with a strong preference given to those leading a specialized/overlay function.
  • Extensive experience (8+ years) of working with publicly regulated environments (FedRAMP, FISMA, DoD, FDA, HIPAA, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable understanding of acronyms like FIPS 140-2, Common Criteria, Section 508, GDPR, FedRAMP, HIPAA, PCI
  • Expertise in compliance and certifications requirements for frameworks such as FedRAMP, FIPS, FISMA, HIPAA, Common Criteria, DoD RMF, etc.
  • Willing to work as part of a diverse team, taking mentorship from multiple partners.
  • Proven understanding of big data as it relates to machine logs, metrics, traces, and analytics technologies and understand how they fit together to deliver concrete business value to customers in regulated industries?
  • Occasional travel may be required.



  • Bachelor's degree in the technical field of study (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Security Engineering, etc.) or substantial relevant on-the-job experience is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Relevant and industry recognized active professional security, compliance, and technology certifications are strongly preferred (ISC2 CISSP, ISC2 CSSLP, ISACA CISM, ISACA CISA, ISC2 CCSP, EC-Council CEH, etc.)
