Role: DHS Client Director

We are experiencing a time of high growth where our customers are turning to us for mentorship as they look for solutions to solve critical security & business problems. Therefore, we are enthusiastically hiring a brand-new Security Sales team within our Public Sector team. This team will be instrumental in positioning Splunk’s security solutions, improving customer’s security postures, and making our digital world a safer place. In addition, you will be responsible for assisting in closing security sales opportunities across the region.

In addition to requisite passion, skills, and experience, you will have a measurable track record in building and managing effective and substantial relationships with our customers at the Executive level. You will play a meaningful role in driving a significant share of revenue for Splunk. This role will exclusively partner with our Enterprise sales team for Public Sector and drive security opportunities within this territory.

The ideal candidate will identify, design and execute the overall sales strategy for Splunk throughout the United States Department of Homeland Security. She or He will identify critical executive relationships and initiate and develop them, as applicable.

This candidate will also contribute individually and as a team leader, providing direction and mentoring to the Splunk DHS team. She or He will work closely with sales management to accurately forecast and execute on department business imperatives while coordinating available resources including Channel/Alliance Partners and Federal System Integrators.

Ability to execute Splunk’s repeatable sales process, excellent communication skills and problem solving ability are critical to the candidate’s success in the role and at Splunk.


Account Planning

  • Strategy Author & Leader for Splunk throughout the Department of Homeland Security
  • Conducts account reviews and deal review, including target buying centers and estimated potential revenue and growth metrics
  • Identify critical programs to pursue, coordinate business development efforts with Strategic Program Team, successfully capture program wins

Account Management

  • Coordinate and own recurring weekly account team meetings and drive alignment across sales team
  • Recurring reviews and progress with management
  • Schedules and manages Quarterly review with Executive Sponsors
  • Serves as primary POC to HQ/OS divisions, CIO office, secretary and other senior execs
  • Builds Splunk Champions among Department senior leadership to influence agency outcomes

Account Leadership

  • At least one C-level outreach or meeting per quarter
  • One Executive Briefing event every 6 months
  • One major activity per quarter to position us as a thought leader


  • Ensure accuracy of SFDC account, leads, opportunities, and forecasting process
  • Will have full visibility in Splunk systems of DHS HQ and component agencies
  • Create & manage DHS Team/Account Slack communication


  • 7+ years of experience in client management, and aligning account strategies to revenue opportunities
  • 2+ years of experience as a Client Director or equivalent role with validated multi-million-dollar sales solutions experience and Executive level relationship management
  • Previous sales experience in Security Operations, IT Operations Management and/or DevSecOps (ideally within software or IT sales organizations)
  • Demonstrable track record of achieving sales targets
  • Capable of leading virtual/matrix teams
  • Ability to understand broad, macro-level business IT needs for our clients
  • Ability to Travel as necessary to execute account plans. Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, travel requirements are limited until further notice.
