Customer Marketing Intern

Do you have a knack for storytelling, a passion for customer delight, and an interest in showcasing the power of data in the world around us? If yes, then we want to talk to you! As a Customer Marketing Intern you will collaborate with all facets of the Splunk business and our customers to share their stories and achievements as heroes of the Data Age.

You will leave your internship with practical experience working in a dynamic marketing organization, gain an understanding of the importance of customer voice, storytelling, and develop a showcase asset that highlights your ability to develop compelling narratives and rich stories.

Responsibilities (What We Hope You’ll Learn!):

  • Learn the current Splunk branding and positioning
  • Run elements of Customer Marketing operations and communications processes by utilizing key internal communications vehicles including Slack, G-Suite, and Pwny Portal (intranet)
  • Shadow senior team members to learn content strategy and customer marketing standard methodologies
  • Collaborate with our communications, content, branding, and creative teams to identify and develop new customer stories.
  • Participate in a final showcase with other Splunk interns, showing off what you’ve learned and accomplished in your tenure with us!

Practicum (Aligning Your Knowledge and Interests with Innovative Expression!):

Your Capstone Internship Project

  • Early in your internship you will work under the mentorship of a senior team member to identify a customer for a capstone project and customer story
  • You will select from three possible customer story candidates, and with the help of your mentor, build and present a formal pitch to team leadership with your selection, rationale and a proposed plan.
  • You’ll be responsible for regular meetings with your assigned mentor, routine project management tasks, and regular reporting/read-outs of progress to the team

Skill Requirements

  • Undergraduate with 1-2 years of writing and editing experience
  • Standout contributor who is willing to pitch in on a variety of projects
  • Organized and articulate, with impeccable attention to detail; strong interpersonal skills
  • Love for the creative process including brainstorming
  • Strong project management skills; deadline driven and able to juggle multiple tasks and priorities
  • Curious and excited to learn
