Community Intern (Summer 2021 Intern) - Remote

Customer communities are a vital part of most companies’ success, and tech company communities present some of the most innovative and exciting ones. Our Community Engagement Team is seeking interns interested in building a baseline knowledge of enterprise community management and exploring an innovative project or two, likely focused in the area of Community Technologies and Community Content, during their tenure with us. Interns on our team will acquire highly-valuable community management expertise by immersing themselves in the thriving Splunk community of passionate experts, engaged knowledge sharers and curious new users, in addition to our Community programs and company technologies.

Responsibilities (What We Hope You’re Learn!):

The Ropes... Community Management Basics

  • Learn Splunk technology foundations through Splunk training courses, documentation, and on the job research
  • Learn Splunk Community programs, including our enterprise platform, Splunk Answers, Splunk User Groups, Splunk Ideas, and SplunkTrust
  • Collaborate with Community Specialist team members on initiatives to manage content
  • Write and curate Splunk Community content for promotion through community, social, and support channels
  • Promote a positive culture of engagement through all interactions with our user community according to Splunk Community guidelines
  • Additional community-related projects and tasks based on aptitude and interest
  • Adapt to priorities in a fast-paced, enterprise organization

Practicum (Aligning Your Knowledge and Interests with Innovative Expression!):

Your Internship Project

  • Brainstorm possible focus areas with various community program leads early into your internship time with us. These may include, but not be limited to, our technologies and our content strategy.
  • Select up to three Areas of Focus for an internship practicum, and with the help of program leads, participate in the formal pitch to the team.
  • You and the team will then decide on a project, be assigned a mentor, and plan the project.
  • You’ll be responsible for regular meetings with your assigned mentor, routine project management tasks, and regular reporting/read-outs of progress to the team
  • Participate in a final showcase with all Splunk interns, showing off what you’ve learned and accomplished in your tenure with us! :)

Education

  • Currently pursing a Bachelor's Degree
