Splunk is seeking a visionary leader of global information security strategy and execution to protect and enable one of the world’s most innovative software companies. This highly visible and critical role will leverage technology to enable the business while actively managing security internally and engaging with customers and external organizations.
The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) leads all aspects of enterprise-wide information security program globally, ensuring the development and implementation of policies, procedures and practices. Operate as a senior stakeholder within the Chief Technology Officer’s leadership team, contributing to the planning and strategy process, and operating across all areas of information technology. Core areas of focus will be partnering with the product and engineering teams to reinforce product security across the entire Splunk offering, strengthening the reputation and trust of key Fortune 100 customers.
The CISO will be both a doer and a delegator, able to expand an effective, experienced team capable of delivering day-to-day information security activities, while also providing strategic thought leadership and planning. This leader must be comfortable diving into technical details to solve challenges but also able to interpret the significance of those details in business terms with the board, investors and executive leadership, as well as the broader global technology community.
He/she will be responsible for making intelligent and pragmatic decisions and for prioritizing investment dollars and team focus, by weighing complex risks and leveraging a network that extends beyond the firm.

The ideal candidate will fill a visible, strategic, and high-impact leadership role within the Splunk organization. The ideal candidate will have excellent domain skills that leverage the capabilities of peers, business partners, associates and customers. This leader will be one of the senior most protectors of Splunk, its customers, employees, investors and counterparties. As such, this leader must engender control, trust, accountability, transparency and urgency in the execution of his/her responsibilities.
At a high level, this executive will have a mastery of Corporate Security (vulnerability, data loss prevention, zero trust networks, etc), Operational Security (high availability cloud platform at significant scale), Product Security, and Regulatory Frameworks (certifications, global end markets, etc.). Additionally, this individual will have a passion for hiring, mentoring and building the next generation of security talent, forging valuable relationships across the organization, and being a valuable and contributing member of the global security community.
FedRAMP, Sarbanes Oxley, SSAE 16 SOC 1 / SOC 2, PCI DSS, NIST 800-53, HIPPA, and other information security and data privacy standards
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field.
