Public Sector Business Development Manager, UK&I

London or Reading base location

Splunks Public Sector (PBST) business is moving into an exciting new phase of its high growth journey. We are looking to move to the next level of achieving our vision of a Data Driven Public Sector by supporting the major initiatives and programmes within the UK&I.

We are looking for someone to join a newly established team focussed on setting the conditions for and then establishing a data driven vision and message into the heart of Government, its largest technology-based programmes and most complex capital projects.

This is a senior role, requiring a delicate balance of market credibility, commercial acumen and programme management with the ability to inform and influence at the highest levels of the public and private sector.

Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!


  • Work with Splunk Government Affairs, PBST SMEs and the programme team to identify, review and propose target initiatives, programmes and business development opportunities for Splunk pursuit to the PBST leadership team
  • Be a key member of the PBST leadership team, with a role of informing strategic guidance and direction
  • Network at the relevant highest levels of UK Government, major public sector suppliers, service providers and heads of major programmes influencing a data driven approach
  • Act as a talisman for Splunk and a spokesperson at key events
  • Work on a targeted portfolio of business development ‘programmes’ from conception, through business qualification, handover effectively to sales whilst retaining ongoing influence and relationships

Requirements: I’ve already done that or have that!


  • Demonstrable experience of having held senior office and/or market credibility and/or consistent successful engagement at the highest levels of Public and Private sector organisations
  • Exemplary communication, influencing and networking skills
  • This is not a sales role, but experience of sales, demonstrable commercial acumen and an understanding of business is desirable
  • 
Solid programme/project management skills with an ability to coordinate multiple virtual teams
  • Software industry experience desirable
  • Aptitude to understand the application of software for business needs and requirements is essential
  • Comfortable working independently and autonomously, in partnership with multiple virtual teams
  • Possess the ability to execute on a strategy whilst contributing to its development
