Splunk 2024 HBCU Academic Scholarship Recipients Selected
For the fourth consecutive year, Splunk continues to offer the Splunk HBCU Academic Scholarship! This year, we sought to honor 15 outstanding HBCU students who showcased one or more of the following: academic excellence and aspirations, the ability to be innovative through the use of technology, and/or a unique leadership role.
The scholarship deadline closed in February 2024, and Splunk received over 300 applications!
The Splunk HBCU Academic Scholarship student eligibility requirements included:
- Be enrolled as a full-time student as a rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree for the full 2024-2025 academic year at an accredited HBCU.
- Actively pursuing a degree in computer science, computer engineering, software development, data science, information systems, information technology, networking engineering, web development, UX/UI design, cybersecurity, or other technology-related degrees.
- Have a current cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Must not have been previously selected to receive Splunk’s HBCU Academic Scholarship award.
- Be 18 years of age or older to apply.
Our applicants were evaluated on the following:
- Resume. A resume that contains work experience, notable projects, honors/awards, and/or extracurricular activities.
- 500 Word Essay Prompt. Students had to describe a significant contribution or impact they made to their school or local community and highlight how either the use of their academics, technology, and/or leadership abilities helped them succeed in their accomplishments.
- 250 Word Essay Prompt. In the second prompt, students had to either 1) describe why they would be the best recipient for the scholarship or 2) describe their academic and career goals and their plans to achieve them.
